Job Overview:
The Driver position at UN Women involves providing reliable and safe driving services to the UN Women Country Representative, high-ranking UN officials, and other staff members. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, as well as excellent knowledge of protocol and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach and work effectively with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. In addition to driving, the Driver may also be tasked with delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items, as well as assisting with airport formalities for official personnel and visitors. The position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of the office and supporting the mission of UN Women in promoting gender equality and women's empowerment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide reliable and secure driving services, including transporting UN Women officials and personnel, facilitating VIP missions, and delivering documents to various locations.
  • Maintain daily vehicle logs, monitor gas consumption, and oversee vehicle maintenance, ensuring all vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations, including the use of seatbelts and adherence to no smoking policies.
  • Assist with general administrative and logistic support, including filing, photocopying, and distribution of publications.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and the organization.
  • Maintain and ensure availability of all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, including insurance and first aid kits.
  • Conduct minor repairs and arrange for major repairs as needed, ensuring vehicles are winterized when required by local regulations.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires completion of secondary education and a valid driver's license. Candidates must have at least three years of relevant experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record. Strong knowledge of driving rules, regulations, and local road conditions is essential, along with excellent driving skills and defensive driving capabilities. Candidates should also possess skills in minor vehicle repairs and demonstrate punctuality and reliability in their work.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, which is a minimum requirement for the position. A valid driver's license is also mandatory to ensure that the candidate is legally permitted to operate a vehicle in the Kyrgyz Republic.

Experience:
A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a driver is required, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. Candidates should have a safe driving record and demonstrate familiarity with the responsibilities associated with driving high-ranking officials and managing vehicle maintenance.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required, along with working knowledge of Kyrgyz and Russian. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, or Spanish, is considered desirable and may enhance a candidate's application.

This position is full-time and may involve occasional overtime or additional duties as required by the office.
