The OSCE has 57 participating States and operates in various countries across Europe, Central Asia, and North America. The OSCE Secretariat, located in Vienna, provides operational and administrative support to the field operations and assists the Chairpersonship in its activities. The Office of the Secretary General plays a crucial role in supporting the Secretary General in implementing his/her mandate and coordinating tasks across the Secretariat.

Job Overview:
The Associate Communications Officer will be responsible for providing comprehensive communication support and advice to key stakeholders within the OSCE. This role emphasizes digital communications and involves maintaining the OSCE public website, ensuring it meets the needs of various audience groups. The incumbent will work closely with other communications staff and departments to create and deliver communication products that enhance the visibility and recognition of the OSCE. The position requires collaboration with internal contributors and external audiences to effectively communicate the organization's activities and achievements.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Associate Communications Officer include maintaining the content and structure of the OSCE public website, guiding internal website contributors, creating communication products for events and conferences, coordinating communication efforts across the organization, developing texts and visuals for various channels, and participating in a duty roster as required. The role also involves troubleshooting and training contributors to ensure adherence to content guidelines and policies, as well as collaborating with OSCE institutions and field operations to streamline communication efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a second-level university degree in journalism, communications, multimedia, political science, international affairs, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience will also be accepted. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, preferably within an international organization or as a journalist, is required. Candidates should demonstrate political judgment, analytical skills, and the ability to present the organization's activities convincingly to external audiences.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a second-level university degree in a relevant field such as journalism, communications, or international affairs. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional relevant experience may be considered. The role demands a strong foundation in communication principles and practices, particularly in digital media.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in communications, with a preference for candidates who have worked in international organizations or NGOs. Experience in social media, multimedia, and website management is essential, along with a proven track record in writing, editing, and producing communication materials.

Languages:
Professional fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of another OSCE official language is desirable, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse audiences and stakeholders.

This position is a fixed-term international secondment role, with a maximum service period of 10 years.
