Job Overview: The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience in an international organization. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for supporting the daily production of the Internal News Review, which includes scanning online resources for news items related to the IAEA and compiling these into a package for the Director General. They will need to stay updated on relevant news and alert Press Officers to significant developments. Interns will also undertake research, write assignments, transcribe press conferences, and assist in preparations for major meetings such as the Board of Governors' meetings and the IAEA General Conference. Additionally, they will help collect statistics about the Section's work and contribute to the analysis of its impact, as well as assist in organizing outreach events and other tasks as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in Journalism, International Relations, or a relevant discipline. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and Adobe PDF is required. A general understanding of the United Nations system, non-proliferation, nuclear power, energy, or climate change issues is considered an asset. Experience in writing and editing press releases, news features, and video scripts is also advantageous. Candidates must be at least 20 years old and have completed at least three years of full-time university studies towards a first degree.
Educational Background: Candidates must have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree. They may apply up to one year after completing a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. Candidates must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship program.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of full-time university studies. While prior experience in an internship or similar role is not mandatory, any experience related to journalism, media relations, or international relations will be beneficial.
Languages: Good written and spoken English is essential for this position. Fluency in any other IAEA official language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset and will enhance a candidate's application.
