Job Overview:
The internship for Disability Inclusion at the OSCE Mission in Kosovo is designed for young individuals with disabilities, aiming to enhance their skills and promote their inclusion in society. The intern will work closely with the Office of the Head of Mission (OHoM) and will be involved in various initiatives aimed at improving the Mission's approach to disability inclusion. This role is not only about gaining practical experience but also about contributing to meaningful change within the Mission and the broader community in Kosovo. The intern will engage in a variety of tasks that will help build local capacity and promote the rights of persons with disabilities, ensuring that their voices are heard and considered in all relevant projects and initiatives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Intern for Disability Inclusion will have a range of responsibilities under the guidance of the Senior Coordination Officer. These include conducting a comprehensive desk review of best practices for disability inclusion, creating a repository of relevant documents, advising on the conduct of a disability audit, collaborating with various departments to integrate disability inclusion into programming, assisting in planning consultations with persons with disabilities, contributing to project documents related to disability rights, and providing administrative support to the Front Office and Office of Central Coordination. The intern will also be expected to complete a final project that showcases their contributions and learning throughout the internship, culminating in a presentation to a Mission panel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have a visible or non-visible disability, be 30 years old or younger, and have completed at least two years at an accredited university or graduated no earlier than 202
  • Additionally, applicants should have experience advocating for disability rights or volunteering with NGOs, possess good to excellent English language skills, and be proficient in Microsoft Office applications. The ability to work well with diverse groups is also essential.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is required, with candidates needing to have completed at least two years of university education or graduated from a relevant degree program within the last two years. Fields of study should align with the OSCE's mandate, emphasizing human rights, social sciences, or related areas.

Experience:
The position requires some experience in advocacy for disability rights, which can include volunteering or interning with NGOs or other institutions that focus on disability inclusion. This experience is crucial for understanding the challenges faced by persons with disabilities and for effectively contributing to the Mission's initiatives.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, with candidates expected to speak and write at a good or excellent level. Knowledge of Albanian or Serbian is considered an asset, as it would enhance communication and engagement with local communities.

Additional Notes:
This internship is a short-term position lasting for six months, with a full-time schedule. While it does not guarantee future employment with the OSCE, it offers valuable experience and the opportunity to contribute to significant social change. The OSCE provides health insurance through the Cigna scheme and may offer a living allowance for non-resident interns.
