The clinic has been operational for several years, focusing on various health initiatives, including skin cancer screenings. The mission of the clinic is to promote health and well-being among UN staff and their families, ensuring that they have access to essential health services. The clinic operates within the framework of the United Nations, which has a global presence and aims to provide comprehensive health care to its personnel across multiple countries. The organization emphasizes the importance of preventive health measures, particularly in the context of occupational health, and strives to adapt its services to meet the evolving needs of its clientele.

Job Overview:
The Skin Cancer Screening Specialist will play a crucial role in the UN City Clinic's preventive health services by providing periodic full-body skin cancer screenings. This position is essential for the early detection of skin malignancies, which can significantly impact the health outcomes of United Nations personnel. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting screenings on an intermittent basis, typically one day per month, with the potential for increased frequency based on patient demand. The role requires a commitment to maintaining high standards of care and ensuring that all screenings are conducted in accordance with established protocols. The specialist will also be expected to engage with patients, providing them with information about skin health and the importance of regular screenings. This position is structured as an Individual Contractor agreement, which allows for flexibility in scheduling and service delivery.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct full-body skin cancer screenings for United Nations personnel and eligible dependents, ensuring adherence to established medical protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide patients with information regarding skin health, the importance of early detection, and preventive measures against skin cancer.
  • Maintain accurate records of screenings conducted, including patient information, findings, and follow-up recommendations.
  • Collaborate with the UN City Clinic team to ensure a seamless integration of skin cancer screening services within the broader health services offered.
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current with best practices in dermatology and skin cancer prevention.
  • Respond to patient inquiries and provide support as needed, fostering a positive and informative environment.
  • Adapt screening schedules based on patient demand and clinic needs, ensuring that services are accessible and efficient.

Required Qualifications:
  • A valid medical license to practice dermatology or a related field.
  • Certification in skin cancer screening and related preventive health services.
  • Strong understanding of dermatological conditions, particularly skin cancer types and their early detection.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with patients and provide clear information.
  • Ability to work independently and manage time effectively, particularly in a flexible scheduling environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical medical practices.

Educational Background:
A medical degree (MD or equivalent) with specialization in dermatology or a related field is required. Additional certifications in skin cancer screening or preventive health services are highly desirable. Continuous education in dermatology and skin health is encouraged to ensure the specialist remains updated on the latest advancements in the field.

Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in dermatology or a related medical field is required, with a focus on skin cancer screening and preventive health services. Experience working in a clinical setting that serves diverse populations, particularly within international organizations or health services for expatriates, is an advantage. Familiarity with the unique health needs of United Nations personnel is beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the UN. Proficiency in additional languages, particularly those commonly spoken among UN personnel (such as French, Spanish, or Arabic), is considered an asset and may enhance communication with a broader patient base.

Additional Notes:
The position is structured as an Individual Contractor agreement with a duration of up to three years from the date of signature. The services will be required on an intermittent basis, with payment made based on an agreed unit price or rate. Screening sessions are typically conducted one day per month, with flexibility to adjust frequency based on patient demand. The role is part-time, allowing for a balance between professional commitments and personal time. Interested candidates must submit their proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal by the specified deadline.
