Job Overview: The Program Manager for the STRIDES Zambia project will play a crucial role in managing and coordinating project activities to ensure they are executed effectively and efficiently. This position involves overseeing project planning, execution, monitoring, and reporting, while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations. The Program Manager will work closely with the Project Director and team members to maintain project schedules and budgets, resolve issues, and implement improvement plans. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders to integrate work plans and ensure the sustainability of project outcomes. The Program Manager will also be responsible for capacity building among project staff and ensuring adherence to both internal and external regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: providing management support throughout the project lifecycle, facilitating the development of project management plans, guiding project staff, identifying partnerships and opportunities, developing best practices for project execution, reviewing project schedules, evaluating project progress, supporting staffing plans, and ensuring compliance with policies. Additionally, the Program Manager will establish communication schedules for stakeholders, determine resource requirements, and implement best practices for task performance. The role also involves monitoring subcontractor deliverables and providing necessary capacity-building support.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a comprehensive understanding of project management principles and practices, with a strong background in managing USG-funded contracts. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and demonstrate strong project and personnel management capabilities. The ability to influence and motivate team members, adapt to challenges, and resolve issues effectively is essential. Familiarity with project management software and technologies is also required, along with a proven track record of successful project execution.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in Health, Nutrition, International Development, Social Science, or a related field is required. A Master's degree in management studies, public health, or a related field is preferred. Additionally, Project Management (PM) Certification is highly desirable, indicating a formal understanding of project management methodologies and practices.
Experience: The position typically requires a minimum of 8+ years of relevant experience in project management, with at least 2+ years in a line management role. Candidates should have prior experience working in non-governmental organizations (NGOs), government agencies, or private organizations, particularly in global health projects, including those funded by USG. Experience in program development or project management, especially in areas related to Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security, immunization, malaria, and nutrition, is also preferred.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization and for project documentation. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the local context may be considered an asset, enhancing communication with diverse stakeholders.
