Job Overview:
The Senior Consultant for Central Bank Institutional Resilience and Governance will play a crucial role in enhancing the institutional resilience and governance frameworks of central banks. This position requires a deep understanding of the financial systems and governance structures that underpin central banking operations. The consultant will be expected to provide expert advice and strategic insights that will help strengthen the institutional capacities of central banks, ensuring they can effectively respond to economic challenges and maintain financial stability. The assignment is set to commence on February 2, 2026, and will last until January 31, 2027, encompassing a total of 45 consultancy days. The consultant will work closely with UNDP and relevant stakeholders to assess current governance practices and recommend improvements that align with international best practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: conducting comprehensive assessments of the current governance frameworks of central banks; identifying gaps and areas for improvement in institutional resilience; developing tailored recommendations and action plans to enhance governance structures; facilitating workshops and training sessions for central bank staff; collaborating with international experts and stakeholders to share knowledge and best practices; preparing detailed reports and presentations on findings and recommendations; and ensuring that all activities align with UNDP's strategic objectives and the specific needs of the central banks involved.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in economics, finance, or a related field, with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in central banking, financial governance, or institutional resilience. Proven expertise in developing governance frameworks and policies for financial institutions is essential. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. A track record of successfully managing consultancy projects in similar contexts will be highly regarded.

Educational Background:
A master's degree or higher in economics, finance, public administration, or a related discipline is required for this position. Advanced qualifications or certifications in governance, risk management, or financial regulation will be considered an asset. Continuous professional development in relevant areas is encouraged and may enhance a candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 10 years of professional experience in the field of central banking or financial governance. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in consultancy roles, is highly desirable. Familiarity with the challenges faced by central banks in emerging markets and transitional economies will be beneficial. The candidate should also have a proven ability to lead projects and work effectively in multicultural environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the region, will be considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's profile.
