Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UN Women focuses on the design and formatting of the NAP III WPS Mid-term review report. This role is crucial as it involves creating a visually appealing and concise report that aligns with the Government of Uganda's design style and branding guidelines. The volunteer will work closely with the Women Peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Program Specialist and the communications team to ensure that the report effectively communicates the results, lessons learned, and emerging issues from the implementation of the National Action Plan. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with professionals in the field of gender equality and to understand how graphic design can enhance the visibility of successful interventions in women's peace and security.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Online Volunteer will be responsible for several key tasks, including:
  • Designing the NAP III WPS Mid-term report according to the agreed requirements, ensuring that it aligns with the Government of Uganda's design style and branding guidelines.
  • Creating a draft design based on the requirements and discussing it with the focal point and communications team for feedback.
  • Incorporating visual aids such as tables, matrices, and infographics placeholders where appropriate to enhance the report's clarity and impact.
  • Collaborating with the communications team to ensure that the design meets the objectives of the report and effectively communicates the findings.
  • Preparing the report for publication and dissemination, ensuring that it is visually appealing and accessible to a wide audience.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess strong graphic design skills, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop) or similar tools. A good understanding of branding principles and experience in creating visually appealing reports or publications is essential. The candidate should also have excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with the team and incorporate feedback into the design process. Attention to detail and the ability to work independently while meeting deadlines are also important qualifications for this role.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have completed or be in the process of completing a degree or diploma in graphic design or a similar discipline. Relevant coursework or projects that demonstrate design skills and creativity will be advantageous.

Experience:
While prior experience in graphic design is beneficial, it is not strictly required. However, candidates should be able to showcase a portfolio of previous design work that highlights their skills and creativity. Experience working on reports or publications, particularly in a non-profit or international development context, would be an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and the report will be in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in Uganda, would be considered a plus but is not required for this position.

This is a volunteer position, and as such, it may not offer financial compensation. However, it provides valuable experience and the opportunity to contribute to important work in gender equality and women's empowerment. The position is flexible and can be done remotely, allowing for a work schedule that accommodates the volunteer's availability. The duration of the volunteer engagement will be determined based on the timeline for the report's completion.
