Job Overview:
The Project and Partnerships Associate position is integral to the successful implementation of the UNESCO/Japan Funds-In-Trust project titled 'Safeguarding Independent Media and Information Integrity in Ukraine: Emergency Response and Sustainable Recovery.' This role is designed to support the Communication and Information (CI) Sector in Ukraine, particularly in enhancing the resilience and sustainability of the media sector amidst ongoing challenges due to the war. The associate will be responsible for liaising with various stakeholders, including implementing partners and consultants, to ensure that project activities are executed effectively. The position requires maintaining an updated project plan, overseeing financial aspects, and ensuring compliance with procurement activities. Additionally, the associate will contribute to project communications by drafting various materials and conducting research to support funding proposals. The role also involves assessing community needs and organizing events to showcase project results, thereby enhancing the visibility of UNESCO's efforts in Ukraine.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project and Partnerships Associate include: supporting the successful implementation of the project by coordinating with partners and suppliers; managing project documentation and deliverables; monitoring the budget and financial situation; ensuring timely reporting to donors; executing procurement activities; drafting communication materials such as web stories and press releases; conducting research and preparing funding proposals; assessing community needs and identifying challenges; organizing events to showcase project results; preparing meeting agendas and materials for UNESCO representation; participating in meetings and missions; and providing logistical and administrative support to project implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of ten years of relevant professional administrative experience in fields such as human rights, freedom of expression, or international development if they have completed secondary education. Alternatively, candidates with a Master's degree (or equivalent) are required to have at least five years of relevant experience. Experience in partnership and grant management, as well as organizing events related to human rights and international development, is essential. Additionally, candidates should have solid knowledge of UNESCO's mandates and the UN system, strong analytical and organizational skills, and the ability to work in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes the completion of secondary education as a minimum. However, candidates with a university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent) in fields such as political science, international relations, human rights, international development, journalism, or media studies are preferred. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of the role and the context in which UNESCO operates.

Experience:
The level of experience needed for this position is significant, with a minimum of ten years of relevant professional administrative experience required for candidates with secondary education. For those holding a Master's degree, a minimum of five years of relevant experience is necessary. This experience should ideally include work in partnership and grant management, as well as organizing events and conferences focused on human rights and international development topics.

Languages:
Candidates must have excellent knowledge of English and Ukrainian, both written and spoken. Proficiency in these languages is mandatory for effective communication and collaboration within the role. The contract duration for this position is 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and resource availability. The estimated monthly salary for this role is 1,936 USD, along with reimbursement for medical insurance and pension contributions up to 15% of the base salary, plus danger pay of 623 USD, subject to decisions by the International Civil Service Commission (ICSC).
