Job Overview:

Interns will be involved in various areas, including systems transformation, innovation, data policy, and governance. Interns will contribute to the design and implementation of digital products, capacity-building initiatives, and strategic communications, all aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of UNDP's programs. Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will support the DAI Hub in several key areas:
  • Systems Transformation & Innovation: Conduct research and draft analytical content on systems transformation and innovation; contribute to horizon scanning and synthesis of trends; design and document innovative policy approaches.
  • Programme Delivery & Capacity Building: Assist in delivering digital initiatives; develop capacity-building materials; coordinate national digital strategies; organize webinars and training sessions.
  • Data Policy & Governance: Research data governance frameworks; draft policy briefs; track global processes related to data governance.
  • Data Analytics & Insights: Analyze datasets; develop dashboards for monitoring; translate data findings into actionable insights.
  • Partnerships & Strategic Communications: Research potential partners; contribute to strategic communications; assist in UNDP positioning on digital issues.
  • Process Efficiency & Resource Management: Track project milestones; develop internal guidance; propose process improvements.
  • Product Design, Build, and Management: Participate in designing digital products; support product development; conduct user testing.
  • Research & Knowledge Management: Maintain content on knowledge platforms; conduct desk research; curate knowledge products.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet one of the following educational requirements: be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (undergraduate; minimum bachelor’s level), or have graduated with a university degree (first or second university degree or equivalent). Interest or experience in one of the workstream areas is desirable. Additionally, candidates should possess strong research, analytical, and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes enrollment in a graduate program or being in the final year of an undergraduate program. Candidates who have recently graduated are also eligible, provided they can commence the internship within one year of graduation. The focus should be on fields related to digital technologies, data science, public policy, or international development, which will enhance the intern's ability to contribute effectively to the DAI Hub's objectives.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory, candidates are encouraged to have some familiarity with digital technologies, data analytics, or policy development. Experience in research, project management, or working in international development contexts will be advantageous. The internship is designed for individuals who are eager to learn and apply their knowledge in practical settings, making it suitable for recent graduates or students in relevant fields.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in English. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to UNDP's operational regions, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
