Job Overview:
The Control Unit of the Finance Department (FIN) at the IMF is seeking a Senior Finance Officer to join its dynamic team. This position is pivotal in monitoring and assessing the control environment within the department, including IT aspects. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing Fund-wide risk and control developments, reporting on internal controls and operational risks, and conducting in-depth analyses of financial policies to ensure they are effectively translated into financial systems. The role also involves managing IT projects to ensure adequate controls and risk mitigation, as well as being familiar with business continuity practices. The Senior Finance Officer will lead innovation and automation projects, such as Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and AI tools, to enhance operational efficiency. This position offers an opportunity for professional growth and a chance to gain a broader understanding of the Finance department's multiple functions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Finance Officer will independently manage specific areas of the Control Unit's mandate and lead small teams on various initiatives. Key responsibilities include: leading reviews and assessments of control procedures in collaboration with other FIN divisions and departments; investigating and resolving control and system issues; working on data mapping and governance initiatives; managing significant IT projects and contributing to FIN's system strategy; leading process improvement initiatives across departments; adopting innovative technology and best practices in financial operations; negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements (SLAs) with IT counterparts; conducting process reviews for simplifications and risk management exercises; and representing FIN on working groups while leading innovative initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background and an advanced university degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field, or hold a professional finance certification such as CPA, CA, or CISA. A minimum of eight years of relevant work experience is required, or alternatively, at least two years of experience in a related position at Grade A12 or equivalent. Additionally, candidates should have a robust background in finance, accounting, internal control evaluation, external audit, or IT controls, with the ability to work with complex financial systems and translate that knowledge into practical business applications. Experience in project management, process innovation, and familiarity with innovation tools for operations and reporting is also essential.

Educational Background:
The ideal candidate should have an advanced degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field. Professional certifications such as CPA, CA, or CISA are highly regarded and may be considered equivalent to an advanced degree in terms of qualifications for this position.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of eight years of relevant work experience in finance, accounting, internal controls, or related fields. Alternatively, candidates with at least two years of experience in a related position at Grade A12 or equivalent will also be considered. Experience in managing medium to large projects, stakeholder management, and system maintenance post-go-live is crucial for this role.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of additional languages is considered an asset. Strong communication skills are essential for effectively interacting with a diverse range of stakeholders and for handling sensitive matters with discretion.
