Job Overview:
The Chauffeur position at ONU Femmes involves providing reliable and safe driving services to the Country Representative and other senior UN officials and visitors in the Central African Republic. The role requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, as well as an excellent understanding of protocol and security issues. The Chauffeur is expected to demonstrate a customer-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, tact, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. Additionally, the Chauffeur may be required to provide driving services to operational and program staff, consultants, and UN personnel on mission as needed. The position is crucial for ensuring the smooth operation of transportation services within the organization, contributing to the overall mission of ONU Femmes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Chauffeur's primary duties include:
  • Providing reliable and secure driving services for the Country Representative and other senior officials, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance with traffic regulations.
  • Transporting visitors, program, and operations staff of ONU Femmes, facilitating VIP missions as required.
  • Delivering and collecting mail, documents, and other items to and from government offices, embassies, commercial establishments, and UN offices.
  • Meeting official staff and visitors at the airport, assisting with visa and customs formalities when necessary.
  • Ensuring that all passengers wear seatbelts at all times while in the vehicle.
  • Supervising and ensuring that all immediate measures required by rules and regulations are taken in case of involvement in accidents.
  • Adhering to ONU Femmes' specific employment policies, including vehicle management policies.
  • Ensuring that all vehicles are compliant with established safety and security standards through risk management processes.
  • Maintaining accurate daily vehicle records, including mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, maintenance, and repairs. 1
  • Ensuring that all official vehicles are cleaned, serviced, and in good working condition, performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs as needed. 1
  • Organizing and completing vehicle winterization when required by local road codes or when travel in snow-prone areas is anticipated. 1
  • Maintaining all necessary documents and supplies in the assigned vehicle, including vehicle insurance, logbooks, office directories, city/country maps, first aid kits, and spare parts. 1
  • Providing general administrative and logistical support as needed, assisting office staff with filing, photocopying, and maintaining required records. 1
  • Performing any other tasks relevant to the functional profile as deemed necessary for the effective operation of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • A secondary school diploma is mandatory.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record.
  • Strong knowledge of driving rules and regulations, protocol, and courtesy for drivers, as well as local roads and conditions.
  • Excellent driving skills and defensive driving capabilities.
  • Basic vehicle repair skills are an asset.
  • Ability to be punctual and reliable in all driving assignments.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a secondary school diploma. A valid driver's license is also a requirement for this position, ensuring that the candidate is legally permitted to operate a vehicle in the Central African Republic.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience as a driver, preferably within an international organization, embassy, or UN system. A safe driving record is essential, demonstrating the candidate's reliability and adherence to traffic regulations.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in English is a significant advantage, and knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Spanish, or Russian) is desirable, enhancing communication capabilities within the diverse UN environment.

This position is full-time and may involve working with international staff and visitors.
