Job Overview: The Emerging Market Loan Pricing and Product Development Officer position is situated within the Finance Directorate's Treasury Department at the EIB's headquarters in Luxembourg. This role is pivotal in supporting the bank's lending activities by providing essential services related to the pricing and hedging of lending products, as well as developing new lending solutions tailored to emerging markets. The officer will be responsible for pricing and quoting both standard and non-standard lending and guarantee products, advising on newly developed products, and analyzing financial market conditions. This position requires a proactive approach to support the Lending Directorate in closing rate quotations and ensuring that the bank's offerings are competitive and aligned with market trends. The officer will also engage in maintaining and enhancing the front office systems used for pricing requests, ensuring that the EIB remains at the forefront of financial engineering in emerging markets.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Emerging Market Loan Pricing and Product Development Officer include performing indicative and firm quotations of lending rates for various lending products, providing advisory services to lending and monitoring officers, and clients regarding the bank's products and market conditions. The officer will monitor local emerging market conditions and pricing components that may affect the EIB's lending rates, ensuring that the bank's offerings are competitive. Additionally, the officer will contribute to the development and maintenance of the Rate Setting Application (RaSA), ensuring that it effectively channels and processes pricing requests. The role also involves collecting and verifying data consistency, contributing to the design of new local currency lending solutions, and maintaining documentation of financial models. The officer will participate in special initiatives related to the division's responsibilities, ensuring that the EIB's lending practices are innovative and responsive to market needs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree, equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree, preferably in a quantitative field such as Quantitative Finance, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or Physics. Professional qualifications in financial markets, such as the Financial Market Certificate (FMC) or ACI Dealing Certificate, are highly advantageous. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required, ideally in financial engineering or risk modeling, with a focus on interest rates and foreign exchange in emerging markets. Proficiency in Excel and VBA is essential, along with knowledge of yield curve modeling and pricing of fixed income and forex derivatives. Familiarity with Bloomberg/Reuters and database queries is also beneficial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in a quantitative discipline, with a strong preference for candidates who have pursued further professional or postgraduate qualifications in financial markets. This educational foundation is critical for understanding complex financial products and market dynamics, particularly in the context of emerging markets.
