Job Overview:
The Finance Adviser position at NRC Germany is a part-time role (60%) focused on leading the financial management of NRC Germany's operations. The primary responsibilities include ensuring compliance with NRC and national financial standards, overseeing financial planning, monitoring, and control across various projects and programs. The Finance Adviser will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of financial processes, optimizing finance operations, and providing technical support and capacity development to staff. This position requires a detail-oriented individual capable of working independently while managing complex financial systems and processes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Finance Adviser will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: complying with NRC and national policies, managing finance processes such as budgeting, monthly reporting, and financial statement preparation; reconciling and monitoring office finances; contributing to efficient financial management of programs from conception to closing; providing guidance and technical support to office staff and regional offices; managing the organization’s financial systems; entering transactions and maintaining accounting records; processing information for monthly closing packages; assisting in optimizing internal accounting processes; producing regular financial updates and analyses; co-leading external audits; maintaining accounting controls; providing technical support on project proposals; conducting quality checks on budgets and financial reports; engaging with finance teams at various levels; monitoring incoming project funds; delivering training on NRC’s finance policies; and conducting field visits to ensure compliance with financial systems and reporting protocols.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 10 years of experience in providing financial support across complex projects and budgets. Familiarity with institutional funding and donor requirements is essential, along with experience working in complex and volatile contexts. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, capable of working independently, and possess solid knowledge of computer software and modern accounting systems. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are also required.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in finance, accounting, or a related field is necessary for this position. Candidates should have a strong understanding of financial management principles and practices, as well as familiarity with international financial reporting standards.

Experience:
The position requires at least 10 years of relevant experience in financial management, particularly in complex project environments. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing financial processes and systems, as well as experience in compliance with donor regulations and financial reporting.

Languages:
Fluency in both German and English is mandatory for this role. Knowledge of French is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with various stakeholders and partners.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in Berlin, Germany, and is offered as a part-time contract (60%) for a duration of 2 years. The role may involve some travel (approximately 5%).
