Job Overview: The UN Volunteer in External Relations will play a crucial role in supporting the implementation of activities within the External Relations unit of WFP. This position involves contributing to partnership development, resource mobilization, strategic communications, and reporting. The volunteer will work closely with the Programme PolicyAdvisor and will be responsible for ensuring that partnership strategies are effectively implemented, aligning with WFP's Corporate Strategy and Country Strategic Plan. The role requires a proactive approach to fostering collaboration among various stakeholders, including government bodies, NGOs, and other multilateral organizations, to enhance WFP's profile and protect its interests. The volunteer will also assist in organizing events, developing funding proposals, and communicating WFP's impact through compelling storytelling.
Duties and Responsibilities: The UN Volunteer will undertake a variety of tasks, including:
Contributing to the implementation of partnership strategies to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results.
Providing technical support in the development and implementation of activities aligned with WFP policies.
Supporting collaboration among ongoing project activities and assisting in documentation and tracking of partnerships.
Coordinating communication with local partners, agencies, and government institutions to enhance engagement.
Assisting in logistical arrangements for high-level events and meetings.
Supporting the development of funding proposals and donor briefs.
Organizing various events and communication campaigns, including social media initiatives.
Collecting and drafting human-interest stories to highlight WFP's impact.
Participating in UNV activities and promoting volunteerism in the host country.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess strong communication skills, adaptability, and a commitment to the mission of WFP. They should demonstrate creativity in problem-solving and the ability to work effectively in teams. A good understanding of partnership development and resource mobilization is essential, along with the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders. Proficiency in planning and organizing tasks is also required, as well as respect for diversity and self-management skills.
Educational Background: A degree in international relations, development studies, communications, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant certifications or training in partnership development, fundraising, or strategic communications will be considered favorably.
Experience: Candidates should have some experience in partnership development, resource mobilization, or communications, preferably within a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is an advantage. Additional Notes: This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the assignment is typically for a specified period, which may vary. The role is full-time, and volunteers are expected to adapt to local living conditions. While the position is based in Bishkek, there may be opportunities for field missions. Volunteers are responsible for securing their own accommodation, but support will be provided by the host office. The cost of living in Bishkek is moderate, and volunteers should be prepared for seasonal variations in climate. Security protocols must be followed, and volunteers will be enrolled in the UN Security Management System.
