Job Overview:
The primary objective of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director position is to support and coordinate emergency response, WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene), and FSL (Food Security and Livelihoods) interventions in the transit center within Renk town and the eastern corridor where displaced persons have sought refuge. The Country Director will work closely with program teams, field coordinators, and national partner organizations to ensure that project activities are well-coordinated and deliver quality results. The role involves strengthening coordination mechanisms among partners to maximize resource utilization, building the capacity of teams, and addressing administrative impediments that may delay recruitment and project implementation. The Country Director will also incorporate aspects of durable solutions into programming in line with community needs, ensuring that the quality of program documentation and reporting is maintained. The position requires the ability to manage teams remotely and engage with various stakeholders, including local authorities, while navigating challenges posed by the ongoing conflict and humanitarian crisis in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Strengthen coordination among partners to maximize the use of available resources.
  • Build the capacity of operational teams through training and support.
  • Address heavy administrative impediments that cause delays in recruitment and project implementation.
  • Incorporate aspects of durable solutions into programming based on community needs.
  • Ensure quality of program documentation and reporting.
  • Identify technical and management gaps among program staff and support the development of a capacity development plan in coordination with the Field Coordinator and Coordination team.
  • Support the team in updating relevant tools (BVA, Targets achievement, and MEAL) and revise them before submission to coordination.
  • Supervise the team in implementing activities, ensuring they are carried out as per plan and that issues are identified and addressed in coordination with the Field Coordinator and Coordination team.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline.
  • Mastery of project cycle management and project reporting.
  • Knowledge in proposal design and writing.
  • Strong communication, coordination, and representation skills in English.
  • Knowledge of Food Security & Livelihoods indicators (e.g., FCS, CSI, CARI assessment) and markets (surveys, monitoring) is a strong asset.
  • Skills in GIS and MEAL software (Kobo, XLS).
  • Familiarity with SI rules and procedures would be an asset.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.

Educational Background:
A Master’s Degree in humanitarian/development studies, social sciences, management, or a related discipline is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of humanitarian work and the management of development projects.

Experience:
The position requires prior experience working with SI (or a similar organization) as an asset. Experience in South Sudan or similar contexts would be considered a significant advantage. The candidate should have a proven track record in managing humanitarian projects and coordinating with various stakeholders in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic is considered an asset, as it may facilitate communication with local communities and partners.

Additional Notes:
The position offers a permanent expatriate contract with a salary calculated based on the expatriate salary scale, starting at €2,250/month. Per diem and accommodation are covered during deployments, and employees receive one day off for each weekend spent in the field, along with 25 days of paid vacation. Health/life insurance and repatriation are fully covered. Employees have the flexibility to choose their location (France or abroad) outside of deployment periods.
