Job Overview:
The STRIDES Nepal Project Director is a pivotal role that involves leading and directing the implementation of a significant Activity aimed at enhancing global health priorities in Nepal. This position is responsible for strengthening laboratory and surveillance systems to effectively prevent, detect, and respond to emerging infectious diseases and other public health threats. The Project Director will manage all aspects of the Activity, including personnel, budget, and technical responsibilities. This role requires a strategic approach to developing and implementing annual work plans, monitoring and evaluation activities, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The Project Director will serve as the primary liaison with local government and global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security partners, ensuring that the Activity meets its goals and objectives within the prescribed timeframe and funding parameters.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the STRIDES Nepal Project Director include planning, directing, and coordinating the implementation of the Activity to ensure that all goals and objectives are met. This includes establishing work plans, teams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with policies. The Project Director will directly manage technical, financial, and operational staff, creating a safe and equitable work environment. They will manage relationships with national, regional, and local government counterparts and multisectoral partners, serving as the primary point of contact for collaboration. The Project Director will lead the in-country team, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality deliverables and reports, providing guidance and training to staff, and supporting performance management and professional development. Additionally, they will coordinate resources for Activity implementation and serve as a member of the Nepal Country Office Senior Leadership Team, contributing to program management and operations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or its international equivalent in public health or a relevant health-related field, with at least seven years of experience, including five years of staff management and substantial project management experience. Alternatively, a Bachelor’s degree with ten years of relevant experience is acceptable. Project management certification is preferred. Candidates should have demonstrated knowledge and experience in managing human or animal health projects, particularly those related to infectious diseases. Experience with Global Health Security projects is desirable, as is familiarity with working across multiple sectors (One Health). Candidates should also have experience in developing and mentoring staff, managing complex projects, and working with government health ministries.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree in public health or a related field. A Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience. Candidates should have a strong foundation in project management principles and practices, as well as knowledge of health-related fields relevant to the position.

Experience:
The STRIDES Nepal Project Director role requires a minimum of seven years of experience in public health or related fields, with at least five years in a managerial capacity. Candidates should have substantial experience in project management, particularly in the context of health projects. Experience working with government health ministries and managing multidisciplinary teams is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidates should possess strong documentation skills. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not required.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require domestic travel up to 25% of the time. The role involves flexibility in coordinating with teams across different time zones.
