Job Overview:
The director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Director for Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health (MNCH) will play a pivotal role in leading and overseeing the MNCH activities under the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) project in Nepal. This position requires a strategic leader who can implement ambitious work plans aimed at improving MNCH outcomes in the Karnali, Lumbini, and Sudurpaschim provinces. The Technical Director will work closely with the Ministry of Health and Population (MOHP), particularly the Family Welfare Division (FWD) and the Department of Health Services (DoHS), as well as local government authorities. The role involves designing interventions, collaborating with project staff and local partners, and ensuring that technical excellence is maintained throughout the project. The Technical Director will also be responsible for monitoring, evaluation, research, and learning activities, ensuring that life-saving commodities and equipment are provided according to the needs on the ground. This position requires collaboration with various stakeholders, including senior project leaders and government officials, to achieve ambitious results efficiently and effectively.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Technical Director will lead the overall implementation of MNCH interventions, providing technical oversight and support to a team of specialists in MNCH and private sector engagement. Responsibilities include managing a project with ambitious timelines while ensuring high-quality, sustainable interventions. The Technical Director will develop and oversee strategic partnerships with FWD/DoHS, subnational government authorities, and other international organizations involved in MNCH. The role requires liaising with FHI 360 experts to ensure technical excellence and working closely with local, regional, and headquarters staff to deliver the project on time and within budget. Key responsibilities also include leading the implementation and monitoring of annual work plans, collaborating with finance teams for accurate budget tracking, preparing program reports, and serving as the primary focal point for EpiC Nepal with the United States Department of State. The Technical Director will provide line management to team members, foster a collaborative team environment, represent FHI 360 at external functions, and coordinate with other senior leaders to ensure strategic alignment across the project.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree in public health, behavioral and social sciences, or a related field, along with five to seven years of experience in managing MNCH-focused public health programs. Alternatively, a Bachelor's degree with over seven years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of national MNCH components and implementation requirements, experience working alongside the Government of Nepal, and a background in managing diverse teams within international non-governmental organizations. The ideal candidate will have experience overseeing large donor-funded projects, guiding program and financial management, and maintaining positive relationships with stakeholders. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in public health, behavioral and social sciences, or a related field is required. A Bachelor's degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive relevant experience in the field of MNCH.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five to seven years of experience in managing public health programs focused on MNCH, with a strong emphasis on understanding national health programming and implementation requirements. Experience in an international NGO setting and managing diverse teams is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written English and Nepali is mandatory, with excellent documentation skills. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an advantage.
