Job Overview:
The Communications Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the formulation and implementation of communication and advocacy strategies aimed at enhancing UN Women's outreach and visibility. Reporting to the Head of Communications, the Associate is responsible for coordinating communication planning, campaign coordination, and digital content development. This position requires a client-oriented approach to deliver results and support various activities and special events organized by UN Women. The Associate will contribute to the development of advocacy and communication strategies, ensuring that campaigns are effectively implemented and aligned with UN Women's corporate communications policies. The role involves creating engaging digital content, managing social media platforms, and analyzing social media trends to enhance audience engagement. The Associate will also support the development of advocacy materials and maintain the NCO's digital presence, ensuring compliance with corporate branding and accessibility standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing coordination support for communication planning and campaign coordination; developing campaign frameworks with clear objectives and timelines; coordinating the implementation of campaign activities; creating social media content and digital assets; developing campaign narratives and advocacy materials; maintaining weekly digital content calendars; providing guidance on corporate communications guidelines; analyzing social media trends and preparing analytics reports; managing the NCO's web and social media presence; preparing press releases and articles; maintaining a database of media contacts; supporting the coordination of communications consultants; and facilitating knowledge management and training on communication practices. The Associate will also be expected to contribute to quarterly and annual reporting and maintain files and databases relevant to the NCO's digital presence.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in communications, journalism, or a relevant field. They should have at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in supporting the formulation and implementation of communications and advocacy strategies. Proficiency in social media, video recording/editing, graphic design, and digital communications is essential. Experience with office software packages and web-based management systems is required, while familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is desirable. Strong analytical and organizational skills are necessary for reporting and content management, along with the ability to establish effective relationships with clients.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication and advocacy work within the organization.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of progressively responsible experience in communications and advocacy. Candidates should have a proven track record of supporting the development and implementation of communication strategies, as well as experience in social media management, graphic design, and digital content creation. Familiarity with web-based management systems and office software is also necessary, along with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Nepali is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable. This linguistic proficiency is essential for effective communication and collaboration within the organization and with external stakeholders.
