Job Overview: The Investment Research Analyst position within the Investment Office (INV) at the IMF is a critical role responsible for overseeing the investment and management of the Staff Retirement Plan (SRP) and Retired Staff Benefits Investment Account (RSBIA), which together manage over $19 billion in assets. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Head of the Investment Office or a designated officer, contributing to the performance evaluation of investment managers and their transactions. The role requires a blend of analytical skills, financial knowledge, and problem-solving abilities to support the investment office's objectives. The analyst will be expected to advance innovation in investment research, develop quantitative models, and prepare analytical reports for various committees and stakeholders. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Investment Research Analyst include:
Advancing innovation in investment research by exploring and implementing new analytical methodologies, models, and tools.
Utilizing analytical skills to gather, analyze, and interpret complex financial data, including ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) and climate change-related data.
Developing models and conducting quantitative analyses to continuously monitor existing investments and global financial markets, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities.
Supporting a broad range of analyses and evaluations on different asset classes within the portfolio.
Monitoring and evaluating the investment performance and transactions of the total SRP/RSBIA portfolios, including the seven asset classes and individual investment manager accounts.
Preparing analytical and policy reports for the Investment Committee, Pension Committee, and SRP participants, including drafting notes and papers as needed.
Liaising with investment managers, analysts, academia, research organizations, or investment institutions as required.
Assisting senior INV staff with secretariat duties for the Investment Committee, including coordinating document handling and preparing draft minutes of meetings.

Educational Background: The educational background required for the Investment Research Analyst position typically includes:
An undergraduate degree, or equivalent, in one or more of the following fields: investments/finance, economics, mathematics, engineering, statistics, and/or accounting.
Alternatively, an undergraduate degree in another field coupled with relevant professional work experience in the investment field.
Enrollment in the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) certification program is preferred, and candidates must either be CFA charter holders or be prepared to undertake the CFA certification program.
Experience: Candidates for the Investment Research Analyst position should possess a level of experience that demonstrates their ability to perform the required duties effectively. This may include prior experience in investment analysis, financial modeling, or related fields, ideally within a financial institution or investment management context. Experience in working with complex financial data and familiarity with investment strategies and asset classes will be advantageous.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English, as it is the primary language of communication within the IMF. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered a plus, particularly if they are relevant to the IMF's global operations and member countries.
Additional Notes: This position is a one-year contractual appointment, with the possibility of renewal for up to four years of cumulative contractual service, depending on the incumbent's performance, budget availability, and continuous business need.
