Job Overview:
The Jordan Project Director, STRIDES is responsible for leading and directing the implementation of an anticipated Activity aimed at enhancing global health priorities in Jordan. This role encompasses a wide range of managerial responsibilities, including overseeing the technical and financial aspects of the project, managing personnel, and ensuring compliance with organizational policies. The Project Director will serve as the primary liaison with local government and other global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security partners, ensuring effective collaboration and communication. The position requires the development and implementation of annual work plans, monitoring and evaluation activities, and comprehensive reporting. The Project Director will also be responsible for fostering a safe and equitable work environment for all staff and participants involved in the Activity.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Jordan Project Director, STRIDES include planning, directing, and coordinating the implementation of the Activity to meet established goals and objectives within specified timeframes and budgets. The Project Director will establish work plans, teams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to ensure compliance with policies. Direct management of technical, financial, and operational staff is required, along with the responsibility for creating a safe work environment. The Project Director will manage relationships with national and local government counterparts and multisectoral partners, serving as the primary point of contact for collaboration. Additionally, the Project Director will lead the in-country team, ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality deliverables and reports, providing guidance and training to staff, and supporting their professional development.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of project management theories, concepts, and practices, with a strong preference for familiarity with international Global Health Security frameworks. Excellent project management skills are essential, including the ability to develop annual work plans and oversee monitoring and evaluation plans. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are required, along with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively. Experience in developing partnerships and managing relationships with government and implementing partners is highly preferred. Demonstrated leadership skills in managing staff within a matrixed organization are also necessary, along with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree or its international equivalent in public health or a related health field is required. A Master’s degree or its international equivalent is preferred, along with project management certification. These educational qualifications are essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge to fulfill the responsibilities of the position effectively.

Experience:
Typically, candidates should have at least 10 years of relevant experience in project management principles and practices, with a minimum of 5 years in a managerial role. Proficiency with applicable US Department of State rules and regulations is required. Experience in managing and implementing health projects, particularly those related to infectious diseases, is essential. Familiarity with Global Health Security projects and experience working in Jordan, especially with the Ministry of Health, is strongly preferred. Candidates should also have a proven track record of developing and mentoring staff and building the capacity of local teams and partners.

Languages:
Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking) is mandatory, while fluency in Arabic is strongly preferred. These language skills are crucial for effective communication with local stakeholders and partners, as well as for reporting and documentation purposes.

Additional Notes:
This position is open to Jordanian national applicants as well as international applicants who can obtain legal work authorization in Jordan, with a strong preference for Jordanian candidates.
