Job Overview:
The Human Resources Intern position is situated within the Global Strategy and Policy Division (GSPD) of the Office of Human Resources (OHR), under the Department of Management Strategy, Policy and Compliance (DMSPC). This internship is designed to provide a comprehensive learning experience for individuals interested in human resources and organizational development. The intern will work closely with a Project Lead, Staff Development Officer, or Human Resources Officer, gaining practical experience in various aspects of human resources management. The internship is flexible, allowing for adjustments based on the successful candidate's needs, and is expected to last between three to six months. The intern will engage in hands-on activities that span administrative tasks, communication strategies, research and data analysis, and organizational learning initiatives, thereby contributing to the overall mission of the UN.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a diverse range of duties that include: A. Administrative and Technical Skills: - Assisting in the design, update, and maintenance of internal records, databases, and SharePoint files, ensuring their accuracy and confidentiality. - Utilizing Office 365 applications, Power BI, and other software to prepare team presentations, reports, and communications. B. Communications, Translation and Adaptation: - Aiding in the planning and dissemination of communication products. - Contributing to translations or adaptations in languages of proficiency, including English, French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish. - Designing or editing visuals that adhere to United Nations branding guidelines. - Developing skills in software for creating visual products such as infographics, presentations, and videos. C. Research and Data Analysis: - Conducting research on HR-related policies and best practices, summarizing key findings. - Collecting and analyzing data for internal reports and budgetary submissions. - Creating visual solutions and reports based on data to support decision-making. D. Organizational Learning and Development: - Assisting in the design and implementation of learning initiatives and training materials on various topics. - Planning and supporting briefings and community engagement events. - Supporting the launch and learning experience design of a new Learning Management System for the UN Secretariat. E. Other Opportunities: - Collaborating with different teams within OHR to support cross-functional HR initiatives. - Proposing solutions to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in achieving team deliverables.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). A background in human resources, psychology, education, public administration, or related fields is desirable. While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship. Candidates should also possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Excel. Familiarity with content authoring software, synchronous learning tools, learning platforms, data analytic tools, and media design software is advantageous.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be students in their final year of a first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application. The educational background should ideally be related to human resources or similar fields, which will enhance the candidate's ability to contribute effectively to the internship.

Experience:
While no professional work experience is required, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that aligns with the internship's focus areas. This could include projects, volunteer work, or other practical experiences that demonstrate an understanding of human resources and organizational development.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory for the internship. Knowledge of French, as well as any additional official UN languages (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, and Spanish), is considered an advantage, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the UN's multilingual environment.

Interns are not financially compensated by the United Nations. All costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
