Job Overview:
As the Deputy Project Director for the Thabat Enhancing Community Resilience AF2 project, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the health and nutrition components of the project. This position requires you to act on behalf of the Project Director when necessary, including representing the project to donors and stakeholders. Your expertise in management and technical knowledge will be vital in ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming that meets the needs of the poor and vulnerable populations. You will also be responsible for proactively managing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and mitigating risks associated with the project, ensuring that all staff adhere to safety and security policies. This role demands a strategic approach to project management, with a focus on achieving timely and quality results while maintaining compliance with donor expectations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include managing key aspects of the Thabat project, serving as a secondary point of contact with the World Bank and other stakeholders, and ensuring that project functions meet donor expectations. You will contribute to the coordination between program and operations leads, ensuring adherence to CRS program quality standards. Additionally, you will manage team dynamics, supervise staff, provide coaching and mentoring, and develop individual development plans for direct reports. Risk management will be a critical aspect of your role, requiring you to monitor national and regional issues that may impact staff and programming. You will also maintain relationships with consortium partner organizations and contribute to the coordination of roles and activities among staff from different organizations. Creating a safe environment for learning and sharing ideas will be essential, as will identifying performance gaps and recommending training opportunities for staff.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations, public health, medicine, human nutrition and dietetics, or a relevant technical area. You should have 5-8 years of relevant management and technical experience, including at least 2 years of experience managing donor funds, particularly from the World Bank, and strong knowledge of budget management. Recognized technical experience in the sector, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations, is also required. Experience in managing complex, high-value, multi-activity projects with complicated logistics is essential.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred. The educational background should be in areas such as international development, public health, or human nutrition and dietetics, which are directly related to the responsibilities of the Deputy Project Director role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5-8 years of relevant management and technical experience, with a strong emphasis on managing donor funds and multi-country grants. Experience in engaging partners and strengthening partnerships is also preferred, along with a proven track record of successful management in complex project environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an added advantage. This bilingual capability will enhance communication with local stakeholders and partners, facilitating better project implementation and collaboration.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in El Geneina, West Darfur, Sudan, and may require travel up to 50%. The role includes supervisory responsibilities and is classified under salary grade 1
