Job Overview: The ICT Consultant will play a crucial role in ensuring the effective and secure operation of UN Women’s ICT environment, adhering to corporate ICT Policies, Standards, and Work Instructions. This position involves the introduction of new technologies and ensuring the effective functioning of hardware, software, and network systems within the Albanian Country Office. The consultant will also provide administrative support and facilitate knowledge building and sharing among staff. The role requires a proactive approach to implementing ICT strategies, developing internal policies, and providing IT support to enhance business results and client services. The consultant will be responsible for maintaining the integrity, availability, and reliability of ICT resources, ensuring compliance with all relevant policies and standards, and managing the local area network infrastructure and internet connectivity.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties include implementing ICT strategies and introducing new technologies in line with corporate standards. Key responsibilities involve developing and reviewing internal ICT policies, providing IT support for corporate applications, installing and maintaining hardware, advising on hardware acquisitions, performing routine repairs, ensuring protection against malicious attacks, maintaining software and hardware inventories, ensuring a stable network environment, configuring network printers, troubleshooting network issues, managing LAN infrastructure, advising on procurement of new ICT equipment, maintaining inventory of supplies, providing ICT support for key events, and ensuring onboarding requirements for new staff are met. The consultant will report to the Operations Manager and collaborate with various stakeholders, including UN Women Albania staff and ICT teams from other UN agencies.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, along with certifications in Microsoft and CompTIA. The consultant must possess excellent knowledge of PC/LAN operating systems, corporate ICT security, and virus protection systems, as well as strong troubleshooting skills for PC hardware. Familiarity with video conferencing and telecommunications is essential, along with the ability to analyze data and provide guidance. A proactive attitude and strong problem-solving skills are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Additionally, certifications in Microsoft technologies and CompTIA are required to ensure the consultant has the necessary technical knowledge and skills to perform the job effectively.
Experience: The position requires at least 12 years of progressively responsible experience in network administration, hardware/software usage, and telecommunications facilities. Experience with Microsoft 365, Azure, and SharePoint is essential, as well as proficiency in using multiple office software packages. Experience in supporting a team is considered desirable, indicating the need for strong collaborative skills and the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
Languages: Fluency in English and Albanian is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication within the organization and with stakeholders, ensuring that the consultant can fulfill their responsibilities and engage with diverse teams and clients.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is office-based and requires the consultant to work for eight (8) days per month. The position is part-time, and the consultant will be expected to submit monthly reports to the Operations Manager. Collaboration with UN Women Albania staff, the Regional ICT Office in Istanbul, HQ ICT in New York, and ICT staff from other UN agencies is required.
