Job Overview:
As the Deputy Project Director for the Nutrition component of the Thabat Enhancing Community Resilience AF2 project, you will play a crucial role in managing and overseeing the implementation of health and nutrition initiatives aimed at serving the poor and vulnerable populations. This position requires you to act on behalf of the Project Director when necessary, including representing the project to donors and stakeholders. Your expertise in management and technical knowledge will be essential in ensuring the delivery of high-quality programming. You will also be responsible for proactively managing security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security and mitigating risks to ensure the safety of staff and the success of the project. This role demands a strategic approach to leadership, with a focus on fostering a positive team environment and ensuring compliance with donor expectations and organizational standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary responsibilities will include managing key aspects of the Thabat project, serving as a secondary point of contact with the World Bank and other stakeholders, and ensuring that project functions meet donor expectations regarding results and budget. You will contribute to the coordination between program and operations leads, ensuring adherence to CRS program quality standards. Additionally, you will manage talent, supervise staff, provide coaching and mentoring, and develop individual development plans for direct reports. Risk management will be a critical aspect of your role, requiring you to monitor national and regional issues that may impact programming. You will also maintain relationships with consortium partners and contribute to the coordination of roles and activities among staff from different organizations. Creating a safe environment for learning and identifying training opportunities will be essential to enhance the capacity of CRS and partner staff.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must possess a Bachelor’s degree in international development, international relations, public health, medicine, human nutrition and dietetics, or a relevant technical area. You should have 5-8 years of relevant management and technical experience, including at least 2 years of experience managing donor funds, particularly from the World Bank, and strong knowledge in budget management. Recognized technical experience in the sector, demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications or conference presentations, is also required. Successful management experience in complex, high-value, multi-activity projects is essential.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field is required, with a Master’s degree preferred. The educational background should align with international development, public health, or related technical areas to ensure a strong foundation for the responsibilities of the role.

Experience:
The position requires 5-8 years of relevant management and technical experience, with a minimum of 2 years in managing donor funds, particularly multi-country grants. Experience in budget management and successful management of complex projects is crucial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an added advantage. This bilingual capability will enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and beneficiaries.

Additional Notes:
This position is based in El Geneina, West Darfur, and may require travel up to 50%. The role includes supervisory responsibilities and is expected to adhere to CRS's Code of Conduct.
