Job Overview:
The Programme Associate position at UN Women involves supporting the Programme Team in developing and implementing effective programs that align with UN Women’s rules and regulations. The role requires the Programme Associate to contribute to research, financial management, and program implementation, providing essential operational, administrative, and programmatic support. The Programme Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including operations, programme, and project staff at the Country Office (CO), Regional Office (RO), and UN Women Headquarters, to resolve complex finance-related issues and facilitate the exchange of information. This position is crucial for the successful execution of the Women, Peace and Security Project, which aims to enhance women's and girls' participation and leadership in peace and security processes in Mozambique.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Associate will be responsible for a range of duties, including: providing advanced administrative support in the preparation of programme work plans, budgets, and proposals; offering technical guidance to country offices and executing agencies on programme delivery and reporting; coordinating information collection for audits and supporting the implementation of audit recommendations; contributing to the development of standard operating procedures and guidelines; reviewing programme data for the CO website; and gathering information for various documents. Additionally, the Programme Associate will manage financial aspects by creating projects in the Quantum system, preparing budget revisions, monitoring programme finances, and maintaining internal expenditure control systems. They will also oversee logistical arrangements for meetings and events, prepare public information materials, and support resource mobilization efforts by managing agreements and processing donor information. The role includes facilitating knowledge sharing and building by coordinating training for office personnel and partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of secondary education, with a Bachelor’s degree in Gender, Social Sciences, or Administration being desirable. The position requires at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management/support, with a minimum of 3 years focused on Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment issues. Experience in Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE), or Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) is considered an asset. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to build and manage effective partnerships with diverse stakeholders, have experience in a computer environment using multiple office software packages, and possess skills in supporting a team and using modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes the completion of secondary education as a minimum requirement. A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Gender Studies, Social Sciences, or Administration is highly desirable and would enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.

Experience:
The position demands at least 7 years of progressively responsible experience in administration or programme management/support. Candidates should have at least 3 years of experience specifically related to Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment issues. Experience in areas such as Women, Peace, and Security (WPS), Women's Economic Empowerment (WEE), or Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) is advantageous. Proven ability to build and coordinate effective partnerships with a range of stakeholders, including government bodies and civil society organizations, is essential. Familiarity with office software and experience in supporting a team are also required.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Portuguese is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of the local language Emakhuwa is considered an asset, enhancing communication and engagement with local communities.
