Job Overview: The Program Officer will play a critical role in providing program management support for the EpiC Global Healthsecurity" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS) project. This position involves collecting, organizing, and analyzing information relevant to the project, assisting with implementation, and ensuring that project activities align with established workplans. The Program Officer will monitor compliance with both internal and external regulations, ensuring that all project activities are executed efficiently and effectively. This role requires strong communication skills to facilitate collaboration with technical team staff and stakeholders, as well as the ability to synthesize information into comprehensive reports for senior management. The Program Officer will also support the preparation of annual, quarterly, and monthly plans, and will be involved in capacity-building efforts for other EpiC staff and partners through training and mentoring.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Program Officer will be responsible for a variety of tasks including: providing project management support for EpiC-supported activities, ensuring timely execution and documentation of results; coordinating with project leadership to develop response mechanisms for outbreaks; leading assigned project tasks and overseeing their completion; synthesizing existing information and data into summaries of progress on key project activities; preparing annual, quarterly, and monthly plans; communicating with technical team staff to address programmatic questions; organizing and filing all project-related documents; ensuring the flow of information on disbursement requests and report submissions; providing operational support for all EpiC GHS activities; representing EpiC in stakeholder coordination platforms; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor or project leadership to support health security goals.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in social sciences, development studies, economic development, education, or related fields. A minimum of five years of experience is required, with at least two years in a similar role. Project management certification is preferred. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of project management theories, concepts, and practices, as well as process development and execution. Attention to detail and strong follow-up skills are essential, along with excellent oral and written communication abilities. The ability to motivate and collaborate with others, and to build positive working relationships with various stakeholders, is also crucial.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's Degree or its equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, development studies, economic development, or education. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of project management and implementation in a global health context.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of professional experience, with at least two years in a role that is similar in nature. This experience should include project management responsibilities, demonstrating the ability to manage multiple tasks and projects effectively. Candidates with project management certification will have an advantage, as this indicates a formal understanding of project management principles and practices.
