The UNV operates through six Regional Offices worldwide, with the Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific located in Bangkok, Thailand. This office plays a crucial role in mobilizing UN Volunteers to support the UN system's activities in peace and development, while also fostering civic engagement through volunteerism. At the country level, UNV Field Units work closely with UN entities to incorporate volunteerism into their development agendas and facilitate the deployment of National UN Volunteers.
Job Overview: The Client Engagement Assistant position is vital for the mobilization and placement of UN Volunteers within UN Agencies, Funds, and Programmes, focusing on areas such as peace, development, and humanitarian assistance. The role involves managing relationships with priority partners, ensuring client satisfaction, and facilitating the delivery of volunteer services. The assistant will work under the guidance of the Regional Manager and report to the Country Coordinator, supporting the identification and cultivation of partnerships with UN Agencies and Host Entities. This includes gathering and sharing data to influence mobilization opportunities and ensuring a positive experience for all volunteers. The position requires regular interaction with UN personnel at various levels and emphasizes horizontal collaboration across multiple units and functions within UNV.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in mobilizing volunteers and developing and maintaining partnerships: Support the management of assigned partner accounts, maintain relationships with UN entities, identify volunteer placement opportunities, contribute to tailored offers for partners, support advocacy campaigns, collect and analyze data for volunteer engagement, record mobilization opportunities in UNV’s CRM system, prepare presentations and key messages, and act as a focal point for online volunteering.
Support volunteer experience and duty of care: Assist with onboarding and provide ongoing support to ensure a positive experience for all UN Volunteers, respond to inquiries, organize appreciation initiatives, support host entities with information on volunteer roles, contribute to duty of care by liaising with security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security focal points, and provide tailored support to peers facing challenges. Backstop other functions during peak periods to ensure continuity of service.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. They should demonstrate a customer-oriented approach, with the ability to manage relationships and engage with a diverse range of partners. Experience in event planning and execution is also essential, along with the ability to work collaboratively across different teams and functions. Knowledge of the UN system and its operations is highly desirable, as is the ability to generate knowledge and apply it to practical situations.
Educational Background: A bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as international relations, development studies, social sciences, or a related discipline is required. Advanced degrees may be an advantage but are not mandatory. Candidates should have a solid understanding of volunteerism and its role in development.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in partnership management, client engagement, or a related field. Experience working with UN agencies or international organizations is highly desirable. Familiarity with volunteer management and mobilization processes will be considered an asset.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly those relevant to the local context, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's profile.
Additional Notes: This position is a national UN Volunteer assignment based in New Delhi, India. The UN Volunteer will be responsible for arranging their own housing and living essentials. The contract duration is subject to availability of funding and satisfactory performance, with no expectation of renewal. The monthly Volunteer Living Allowance is INR 64,961.50, along with a one-time entry lump sum payment of USD 400 and relocation costs if applicable. Comprehensive insurance coverage is provided, including health, life, and malicious acts. Volunteers are entitled to 2.5 days of annual leave per month and have access to UNV's learning and career development resources.
