In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. Job Overview:
The consultant will be responsible for developing and contextualizing training modules for the Women's Empowerment Principles (WEPs) tailored to the Moroccan private sector. This role involves enhancing the relevance and pedagogical impact of existing training content by integrating local examples, case studies, and practical exercises. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Programme Management Specialist at ONU Femmes Morocco and will engage in a comprehensive review of existing WEPs modules, analyze data and reports on gender equality and women's economic participation, and develop new thematic training modules. The consultant will also create andragogical tools for participants and facilitators, ensuring that the training materials are practical, clear, and easily reusable. The ultimate goal is to support Moroccan businesses in implementing gender-sensitive practices and policies, thereby fostering an inclusive work environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Conduct a documentary review and analysis of existing WEPs modules and related tools developed by ONU Femmes to identify gaps and areas for enrichment.
  • Analyze available data, reports, and studies on professional equality and women's economic participation in Morocco, focusing on specific sectors such as care economy, green economy, and STEM fields.
  • Study experiences from other countries with similar contexts to identify innovative approaches and transferable lessons.
  • Develop a comprehensive inception report outlining the understanding of the mission, methodology, detailed work plan, execution timeline, and coordination strategy with ONU Femmes.
  • Contextualize and enrich six training modules by integrating local examples, updated data, and terminology relevant to Moroccan businesses.
  • Develop new thematic training modules covering topics such as gender-sensitive marketing, recruitment, and workplace harassment.
  • Create andragogical tools for participants, including manuals and practical sheets with content summaries, exercises, and case studies.
  • Produce a facilitator's guide detailing each module's structure, objectives, activities, and evaluation methods.
  • Organize in-person training sessions for ONU Femmes staff, including two workshops on pedagogical tools at the end of the mission. 1
  • Submit a complete final package including contextualized modules, participant tools, and facilitator guides, incorporating feedback received during the validation process. 1
  • Prepare a final report summarizing the process, adjustments made, and recommendations for dissemination and scaling.

Required Qualifications:
  • A Master's degree or equivalent in social sciences, gender studies, development, communication, management, or a related field is required.
  • A Bachelor's degree with two additional years of experience may be accepted in lieu of a higher degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in designing and facilitating training, developing andragogical tools, or capacity building, preferably in gender equality and women's economic empowerment.
  • At least one experience in andragogy and content design related to gender is required.
  • Knowledge of the Moroccan private sector is essential.
  • Experience working with international organizations (UN, bilateral agencies, international NGOs) is an asset.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, gender studies, development, communication, or management. A Bachelor's degree may be considered if accompanied by additional relevant experience.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, particularly in training design and facilitation, development of educational tools, or capacity building, with a strong preference for experience in gender equality and women's empowerment. Candidates should also have at least one experience in andragogy and content design related to gender, along with knowledge of the Moroccan private sector.

Languages:
Fluency in French and English is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

Additional Notes:
This is a home-based consultancy position with no travel required, except for in-person training sessions in Rabat. The consultant will be expected to submit deliverables by specific deadlines, including an inception report, draft modules, and a final training package. The deliverables must be presented in provisional versions for feedback before finalization. The documents will be developed in French, as the existing materials are in English.
