Job Overview:
The Digital Photographer position is crucial for supporting the communications and advocacy efforts of the UN Country Team in Saudi Arabia. The incumbent will be responsible for capturing high-quality photographs that will serve as assets for social media and the annual report. This role is particularly significant as it contributes to the visibility and outreach of the UN's work in the region, especially in relation to key events and initiatives. The photographer will work closely with the Head of the Resident Coordinator Office and the Senior Communication Advisor to ensure that the visual content aligns with the UN's messaging and branding. The expected duration of this contract is two months, during which the photographer will be expected to deliver a minimum of ten high-resolution photographs per event attended.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties and responsibilities of the Digital Photographer include:
  • Attending and documenting UN Day events, capturing the essence of the celebrations and activities.
  • Photographing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, highlighting the importance of inclusivity and accessibility.
  • Creating visual assets for the Annual Country Results Report, which showcases the UN's achievements and impact in the country.
  • Covering high-level visits by dignitaries and officials, ensuring that significant moments are well-documented.
  • Producing photographs for the Cooperation Framework assets, which outline the collaborative efforts between the UN and local partners.
  • Participating in the Future Minerals Forum, capturing key discussions and interactions. The photographer must ensure that all photographs are of high quality and meet the standards required for publication and dissemination.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification. It is mandatory for all applicants to submit a copy of their educational certificate, as incomplete applications will not be considered. Additionally, a minimum of one year of professional work experience in photography is required, demonstrating the ability to produce high-quality images in various settings.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position is a High School Diploma or an equivalent qualification. This foundational education is essential for understanding the technical aspects of photography and visual storytelling.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of professional work experience in photography. This experience should include a portfolio of work that showcases the candidate's ability to capture compelling images in diverse environments, particularly in relation to events and public engagements.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic is mandatory for this position, as it is a working language of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA). Knowledge of English is desirable, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Fluency in Arabic means being rated as 'fluent' in all four areas: speaking, reading, writing, and understanding. Knowledge of English should be rated as 'confident' in at least two of the four areas.
