Job Overview: The Consultant for Biodiversity Credit Roadmap will play a crucial role in developing a strategic framework aimed at enhancing biodiversity credit initiatives. This position requires a deep understanding of biodiversity conservation, financial mechanisms, and policy development. The consultant will be expected to conduct thorough research, engage with stakeholders, and provide actionable recommendations to create a roadmap that aligns with national and international biodiversity goals. The assignment will span over 36 working days, during which the consultant will collaborate closely with UNDP teams and relevant partners to ensure the roadmap is comprehensive and effective in promoting biodiversity credits.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for the following duties and responsibilities:
Conduct a comprehensive analysis of existing biodiversity credit mechanisms and frameworks both locally and globally.
Engage with stakeholders including government agencies, NGOs, and private sector representatives to gather insights and foster collaboration.
Develop a detailed roadmap outlining the steps necessary to implement biodiversity credit initiatives in Indonesia.
Prepare reports and presentations summarizing findings and recommendations for UNDP and stakeholders.
Facilitate workshops and meetings to discuss the roadmap and gather feedback from stakeholders.
Ensure that the roadmap aligns with national biodiversity strategies and international commitments.
Provide ongoing support and advice to UNDP throughout the implementation phase of the roadmap.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong background in environmental science, biodiversity conservation, or a related field. Proven experience in developing strategic frameworks or roadmaps is essential. Familiarity with biodiversity credit mechanisms and financial instruments is highly desirable. Strong analytical and research skills are required, along with the ability to communicate complex ideas effectively to diverse audiences. The consultant should demonstrate a capacity for stakeholder engagement and collaboration, particularly in multi-disciplinary settings.
Educational Background: A minimum of a Master's degree in environmental science, ecology, conservation biology, or a related field is required. Additional certifications or training in biodiversity finance or sustainable development will be considered an asset.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in biodiversity conservation, environmental policy, or related fields. Experience working with international organizations, particularly in the context of UNDP or similar agencies, is highly advantageous. Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement and project management will be beneficial for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with local stakeholders. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, depending on the context of the project.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an individual contractor role, with a contract duration of 36 working days. The consultant is expected to work remotely, with potential travel to Indonesia if required for stakeholder meetings or workshops. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications, and benefits will be outlined in the contract.
