Job Overview:
The position of Strategic Risk Management Specialist in the Power Division is crucial for enhancing the risk management framework within the UNDP's operations in Pakistan. The specialist will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks associated with power projects and initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of risk management principles and practices, particularly in the context of energy and power sectors. The specialist will work closely with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector partners, and civil society organizations, to ensure that risk management strategies are effectively integrated into project planning and implementation. The position also involves providing technical guidance and support to project teams, facilitating workshops and training sessions, and developing risk management tools and resources. The overall goal is to enhance the resilience and sustainability of power projects while ensuring compliance with UNDP's policies and standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Strategic Risk Management Specialist will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting risk assessments for power projects, developing risk management plans, advising project teams on risk mitigation strategies, monitoring and reporting on risk management activities, facilitating stakeholder engagement processes, and ensuring alignment with UNDP's risk management framework. Additionally, the specialist will be expected to analyze emerging risks in the energy sector, provide recommendations for risk response strategies, and contribute to the continuous improvement of risk management practices within the organization. The role may also involve preparing reports and presentations for senior management and external stakeholders, as well as participating in relevant meetings and forums to represent UNDP's interests in risk management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong background in risk management, project management, or a related field. A proven track record of working in the energy or power sector is highly desirable. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and strategically about risk issues. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as the specialist will need to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Familiarity with UNDP's policies and procedures, as well as experience in international development contexts, will be considered an asset. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to the principles of sustainable development and social equity.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in risk management, project management, business administration, or a related field is required. Additional certifications in risk management or project management (such as PMI, PRINCE2, or equivalent) are highly advantageous. Candidates with a bachelor's degree combined with extensive relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant professional experience in risk management, project management, or related fields. Experience working in the energy or power sector, particularly in developing countries, is highly desirable. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and work effectively in multi-disciplinary teams. Previous experience with UN agencies or international organizations will be considered a significant advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local languages spoken in Pakistan, is considered a plus and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.

Additional Notes:
The contract duration for this position is set for a total of 180 working days, spread over a period of 12 months, commencing from the date of signing the contract. This is a full-time position, and candidates should be prepared to engage in a dynamic work environment that may require flexibility in working hours.
