Job Overview: The Project Coordinator position involves supporting the coordination of the Country Office's activities and project development, donor reporting, monitoring and evaluation, and liaison functions. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Head of Office in Tirana and collaborate closely with Project Managers, Project Coordinators, and other units within the Country Office. The role requires a proactive approach to assist in the operational, administrative, and financial aspects of projects, ensuring compliance with IOM policies and donor requirements. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for data collection, analysis, and reporting, as well as liaising with various stakeholders, including donors, partners, and local authorities. This position is crucial for the successful implementation of projects aimed at improving migration governance and supporting vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Assist in the coordination and monitoring of operational, administrative, and financial aspects of projects in accordance with IOM policies and donor requirements.
Keep the supervisor informed on project implementation status, identifying gaps and suggesting improvements.
Participate in developing and adjusting work plans, project budgets, and monitoring and evaluation tools.
Prepare and disseminate project reports in accordance with IOM procedures and donor requirements.
Liaise with donors, partners, UN agencies, local authorities, and stakeholders.
Contribute to planning and delivering capacity-building activities for IOM staff and partners.
Attend relevant conferences, workshops, and interagency coordination meetings.
Participate in preparing project proposals and communication products. 1

Undertake duty travel for project implementation and monitoring. 1
Perform other related duties as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Human Rights, Law, or related fields from an accredited institution, along with two years of relevant professional experience. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in the aforementioned fields is acceptable. Candidates should have experience in local governance, migration governance, public and private sector engagement, project management, stakeholder engagement, and report writing. Familiarity with migration dynamics and municipal-level service delivery in Albania is advantageous, as is prior work experience with local governance institutions or international humanitarian organizations.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Human Rights, or Law is required. Candidates with a Master’s degree in these fields will also be considered. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that candidates have received a recognized education that meets international standards.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have experience related to local governance, migration governance, and public-private sector engagement. Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, event coordination, and report writing is essential. Candidates should also have experience liaising with governmental authorities and international organizations, as well as working with vulnerable groups such as migrants and refugees. Familiarity with the local context in Albania is a significant advantage, as is prior experience in a multicultural setting.
Languages: Fluency in English and Albanian is required for this position, both oral and written. IOM's official languages include English, French, and Spanish, and proficiency in these languages may be evaluated during the selection process through written and/or oral assessments. Candidates should demonstrate strong communication skills in the required languages to effectively liaise with various stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The selection process for this position is subject to funding confirmation, and candidates may be considered for similar positions in various duty stations. Recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in similar roles for a period of 24 months. National Professional Officers must be nationals of the country of employment and perform work at a professional level, adhering to the same recruitment qualifications and performance standards as International Professional staff. Appointment is contingent upon medical fitness certification, residency verification, and necessary government authorizations.
