Job Overview: The Consultant - Multimedia and Platform Integration Designer will play a crucial role in the development and integration of multimedia content for the UNU Learning Center. This position requires a blend of technical expertise and creative design skills to ensure that educational materials are engaging, accessible, and effectively delivered through the learning management system (LMS). The consultant will be responsible for reviewing technical specifications, preparing multimedia elements, integrating quizzes and activities, and ensuring the overall quality and functionality of the course materials. The role demands collaboration with various stakeholders, including graphic designers and content consultants, to create a cohesive learning experience that meets the needs of the target audience.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review technical specifications and content standards for the UNU Learning Center, ensuring compliance with accessibility requirements.
Prepare multimedia packages, including video layouts and interactive elements, coordinating with recording teams as necessary.
Convert quizzes and activities into a compatible format for the LMS, creating question banks and linking them to course modules.
Upload and organize all course components on the LMS, ensuring logical navigation and a consistent visual design.
Conduct thorough testing of the course as a learner, addressing any issues related to links, media playback, and quiz functionality.
Collaborate with graphic designers and content consultants to refine course materials based on feedback from stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: An advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in fields such as remote sensing, geoinformation science, geography, environmental science, disaster risk management, or instructional design is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree in similar fields combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of five years of proven experience in designing visual materials, including slide decks and infographics, is essential. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud or equivalent tools is required, along with the ability to create accessible and web-optimized content. Experience working with international organizations, particularly within the UN system, is desirable, as is familiarity with geospatial and technical content.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master's degree or equivalent) in relevant fields such as remote sensing, geoinformation science, geography, environmental science, disaster risk management, or instructional design. A first-level university degree in similar fields may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of qualifying experience, demonstrating the candidate's capability in the required areas.
Experience: The position requires at least five years of proven experience in designing visual materials, including slide decks, infographics, and templates. Candidates should have a strong background in multimedia content creation and integration, particularly within educational or training contexts. Experience working with international organizations, especially within the UN system, is highly desirable, as it indicates familiarity with the operational standards and expectations of such entities.
Languages: Fluency in English, both oral and written, is mandatory for this position, as English is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat.
