Job Overview:
The Reintegration Assistants (UG) position is a critical role within the Assisted Voluntary Return and Reintegration (AVRR) teams based in Yaoundé and Douala, Cameroon. This position is essential due to the increasing number of migrants requiring support and the heightened demands for performance and efficiency in the reintegration process. The Reintegration Assistants will work under the supervision of AVRR Team Leaders and will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at facilitating the reintegration of returnee migrants. This includes conducting needs assessments, providing counselling, and supporting the development of individualized reintegration plans. The role also involves organizing initial intake sessions for returnees, which encompass various training and support activities, and ensuring that all necessary documentation and case files are accurately maintained and submitted. The position requires a proactive approach to addressing the challenges faced by returnees and contributing to their successful reintegration into local communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Reintegration Assistants include:
  • Assisting in welcoming, registering, and conducting needs assessments for returnee migrants.
  • Providing counselling and socio-economic or vocational guidance to beneficiaries.
  • Supporting the development of individualized reintegration plans for returnees.
  • Organizing initial intake sessions for returnees, which include entrepreneurship training, civic and moral rearmament sessions, psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support, profiling, registration, case file creation, and distribution of pocket money.
  • Preparing and organizing reintegration committee meetings and managing related logistics.
  • Assisting AVRR Case Workers with the preparation of in-kind or cash reintegration case files for submission in the IOM system (WAVE).
  • Supporting the distribution of assistance packages (MAD) to beneficiaries.
  • Contributing to reporting efforts and ensuring accurate entry of cases into local databases.
  • Assisting AVRR Teams in coordinating and delivering community-based reintegration activities, such as group livelihood initiatives or social cohesion projects. 1
  • Ensuring all migrant files are updated for submission in the system to process support (payment or in-kind). 1
  • Conducting follow-up visits and outreach to monitor the progress of reintegration plans, identifying challenges faced by beneficiaries, and proposing timely solutions or interventions. 1
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the AVRR Team Leaders.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Reintegration Assistants position include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Additional training or certification in counselling, case management, or project management is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of migration issues, reintegration processes, or humanitarian principles acquired through formal education or specialized courses is essential.
  • Proficiency in data entry and case management systems, such as the Wave system or similar digital platforms.
  • Strong communication skills for conducting interviews, needs assessments, and providing counselling to returnees.
  • Ability to organize and facilitate group sessions, including entrepreneurship training and psychosocial support activities.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, or a related field. Additional training or certification in relevant areas such as counselling, case management, or project management is advantageous. Knowledge of migration issues and reintegration processes, as well as humanitarian principles, is also important and can be acquired through formal education or specialized courses.

Experience:
Candidates should have previous experience working in migration, humanitarian assistance, social work, or related fields. Experience in collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and liaising with service providers, such as health, legal, and psychosocial support, is essential. Demonstrated experience in organizing events or workshops, particularly those related to reintegration or community development, is also required.

Languages:
Proficiency in English and French is mandatory, as these are the primary languages used in the region. Additional language skills may be considered an asset, particularly if they are relevant to the communities served by the AVRR teams.

The position is full-time and involves working closely with returnee migrants to facilitate their reintegration into local communities. The role may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate the needs of returnees and the demands of the AVRR program.
