Job Overview: The coordinator" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Finance Coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating all administrative, accounting, and financial services of the mission. This role ensures the financial balance of the mission and compliance with Solidarités International procedures, donor requirements, and local laws. The Finance Coordinator acts as the primary point of reference for the mission and serves as the liaison between headquarters and the mission on all management, accounting, and budget matters. The position requires a strong understanding of financial management, including budgeting, monitoring, and reporting, as well as the ability to manage a team effectively and ensure compliance with various regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance Coordinator's duties include conducting socio-economic analyses to identify administrative partners and monitor exchange rates and prices. They will manage a team by defining personnel needs, recruiting team members, training and appraising the financial team, and coordinating team activities. Financial management responsibilities involve defining expenditure cycles, consolidating and verifying monthly accounts, preparing and revising financial programming, and monitoring operating costs. The coordinator will also manage cash flows, ensure compliance with legal requirements, and maintain relationships with national authorities. Regular financial reporting and communication with headquarters are essential, as is adherence to security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols during travel to various operational areas.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector and at least 5 years in a similar position. Strong technical skills in financial management, accounting, and advanced Excel are required. Candidates should possess strong communication, time management, and team management skills, and be able to work autonomously and under pressure. Proficiency in computer skills is also necessary.
Educational Background: A relevant degree in finance, accounting, or a related field is typically required for this position. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial principles and practices, as well as experience with financial software.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar role. This experience should include financial management, accounting, and team leadership within a humanitarian context.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered an added advantage. Strong communication skills in both languages are essential for effective reporting and collaboration with local partners and stakeholders.

The role is based in Damascus, with travel required to the Northeast and Northwest Syria. The salary starts from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and an annual leave allowance. Additional benefits include a monthly per diem, transportation allowance, accommodation costs, and travel expenses. Expatriates will also receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and a welfare system for war risks. Living conditions in Damascus are reported to be good, with shared accommodation provided for expatriates.
