Job Overview:
The Operations Manager plays a crucial role under the responsibility of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director in Syria, contributing to the implementation of HI's mandate and 10-year strategy. This position is pivotal in ensuring the quality and impact of projects within the country. The Operations Manager is tasked with developing and implementing the operational strategy for the program, ensuring that all projects are monitored effectively and comply with HI policies and donor obligations. The role requires a proactive approach to monitoring and analyzing the context in Syria, identifying operational risks and opportunities, and proposing necessary actions to the Regional Director. The Operations Manager will also be involved in organizational transformation initiatives, aligning with HI's Lean, Shared Services, and ROOTS projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Management: Directly manage the Area Manager in the country of assignment, fostering team spirit and ensuring effective collaboration among area managers and head office colleagues. Recruit and support the professional development and well-being of Area Managers.
  • Contribution to the Programme’s Operational Strategy: Contribute to the development and implementation of the Programme’s Operational Strategy, ensuring sound management and monitoring of projects. Analyze operational opportunities and risks, proposing mitigation measures as necessary.
  • Influence: Support the development of HI's external influence and representation at the national level, engaging in forums and strategic alliances, and participating in events and media outreach.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess solid experience in the humanitarian sector, demonstrating a strong understanding of the challenges and dynamics involved. Fluency in both oral and written English is mandatory, while Arabic language skills are considered a strong asset. Proficiency in computer skills, particularly in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and other relevant software, is essential. Candidates should exhibit strong interpersonal skills, the ability to manage stress, and demonstrate flexibility and adaptability in various situations.

Educational Background:

Experience:

This is a 12-month international contract starting on January 5, 202
  • The contract includes social coverage tailored to the mission context, such as unemployment insurance benefits for EU nationals, a pension scheme, and medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution. The salary starts at 2869€ gross per month, depending on experience, with additional benefits including a per diem of 525 USD net per month, a hardship allowance of 250€ net per month, and 25 paid leave days per year. The position is unaccompanied, and housing will be collectively provided by HI.
