Job Overview: The Case Management Assistant will play a crucial role in the Protection Division (PXD) of IOM, which aims to reduce protection risks for individuals in vulnerable situations. The incumbent will work closely with beneficiaries to assess their needs, identify goals, and develop assistance plans. This position requires a proactive approach to outreach and engagement with populations of concern, ensuring that individuals are informed about available services and support. The Case Management Assistant will also be responsible for monitoring the effectiveness of assistance plans and ensuring that beneficiaries receive the necessary support to meet their identified goals. This role is vital in providing direct support to various vulnerable groups, including unaccompanied children, victims of trafficking, and survivors of gender-based violence.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Case Management Assistant will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
Identifying beneficiaries eligible for IOM protection and assistance services through outreach and community-based awareness sessions.
Conducting screenings and interviews with potential beneficiaries to assess their protection concerns and eligibility for services.
Informing individuals about available services, eligibility requirements, and referral pathways.
Completing intake formalities for eligible individuals seeking assistance.
Referring individuals to external services when necessary.
Conducting assessments to gather relevant information on individuals' situations and needs.
Developing individualized case plans in consultation with beneficiaries.
Organizing and providing necessary services to meet the needs outlined in the case plans.
Monitoring service provision to ensure quality and effectiveness. 1
Following up on beneficiary progress and outcomes. 1
Maintaining accurate case files and documentation in accordance with IOM standards. 1
Coordinating with finance and procurement colleagues on service provision costs. 1
Maintaining statistics on beneficiaries and services provided, and preparing reports as required. 1
Undertaking duty travel as needed.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in social work, psychology, law, or a related field from an accredited institution, along with three years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma and five years of relevant professional experience will also be considered. Experience in protection, counter-trafficking, child protection, and humanitarian affairs is essential. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and coordinate with various stakeholders effectively.
Educational Background: A university degree in social work, psychology, law, or a related field is required. Accredited institutions are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A high school diploma with extensive relevant experience may also be acceptable.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in protection, counter-trafficking, child protection, or related fields. Experience working with vulnerable populations and in community-based protection services is highly desirable. The ability to manage multiple tasks under pressure while maintaining attention to detail is crucial.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory, both oral and written. Knowledge of additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset, as IOM's official languages include these. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and oral assessments.
