Job Overview: The position of Consultor/a internacional en Alimentación Escolar is crucial for supporting the design, implementation, monitoring, and strengthening of school feeding programs that are sensitive to nutrition. The role involves ensuring that innovative, inclusive, and evidence-based approaches are integrated into the programs, aligning with WFP's strategic priorities and the specific needs of El Salvador. The consultant will work closely with government partners and other stakeholders to enhance the effectiveness of school feeding initiatives, which are essential for improving security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">food security and nutrition among vulnerable populations, particularly children. The consultant will also play a key role in fostering collaboration among various agencies and partners to maximize the impact of school feeding programs and contribute to the overall goal of achieving Zero Hunger by 2030.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead and strengthen the strategy and design of the school feeding program, including objectives, activities, transfer modalities, monitoring and evaluation, rations, and operational aspects, to inform the expansion of the program and the development of new activities in WFP El Salvador, in line with the national strategy and practical realities on the ground.
Provide policy and operational advice for the implementation of the school program and complementary activities, ensuring coherence with WFP policies, the country context, and the characteristics of government engagement and partner cooperation.
Offer guidance to the government, partners, and other stakeholders to achieve objectives that contribute to strengthening the School Feeding Program. Redefine roles and responsibilities in collaboration with the government and key partners.
Support coordination with UN agencies, NGOs, government, and other key stakeholders to identify where food assistance and complementary activities through schools can be beneficial, ensuring complementary efforts as appropriate, and providing technical support for planning, formulation, and implementation of these interventions.
Assist in establishing, maintaining, and monitoring operational partnerships and agreements as necessary.
Contribute to operational research and evidence generation on relevant topics for school feeding and related food assistance activities.
Coordinate the planning of distribution and operational procedures for the implementation of the school feeding program, in collaboration with relevant units and field operations.
Monitor the distribution and efficient management of resources for assigned projects, including budgetary, procurement, and supply availability requirements, in coordination with relevant units.
Map stakeholders and develop a credible network of contacts in geographical areas to facilitate WFP's operational preparedness, continuity of operations, and expansion of the School Feeding Program. 1
Strengthen the design and implementation of a local procurement program/fresh products, and implement pilot projects. 1
Support capacity strengthening activities for NGO partners and school staff regarding the operationalization of the school feeding program and its components. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in managing, executing, and monitoring projects, preferably with a focus on school feeding, nutrition, and/or child development. A thorough understanding of global and regional school feeding and nutrition policy frameworks and financing mechanisms is essential. Experience in Latin American contexts, particularly Central America, is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical, synthesis, and writing skills to produce reports and proposals. Interpersonal and coordination skills are necessary for effective teamwork and collaboration with diverse stakeholders. Proactivity, autonomy, and organizational skills are crucial for meeting commitments and deadlines, along with the ability to work under pressure. Proficiency in Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is required, as well as experience in planning, executing, analyzing, and reporting on budgets.
Educational Background: A minimum of an advanced university degree in Nutrition, Public Health, Education, International Relations, Social Sciences, International Development, or related fields is required. A Master's degree in related areas is desirable. Candidates must have full proficiency in both Spanish and English, both oral and written.
