In July 2010, the United Nations General Assembly created UN Women, the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women. In doing so, UN Member States took an historic step in accelerating the Organization’s goals on gender equality and the empowerment of women. The creation of UN Women came about as part of the UN reform agenda, bringing together resources and mandates for greater impact. It merges and builds on the important work of four previously distinct parts of the UN system, which focused exclusively on gender equality and women’s empowerment:

The main roles of UN Women are:

Job Overview: The Human Resource (HR) Associate plays a crucial role in supporting the administrative and logistical aspects of HR functions within the Tunisia/Libya Cluster Office. This position is under the technical guidance of the Regional HR Business Partner and daily supervision of the Operations Manager. The HR Associate is responsible for various HR administrative tasks, including recruitment and placement, administration of benefits and entitlements for staff and local external contractors, and managing personnel separations. The role requires a thorough understanding of UN Women’s HR policies and guidelines, ensuring compliance in all HR-related activities. The HR Associate will provide general information to management and staff regarding HR strategies and regulations, interpret processes, and manage operational requirements effectively. This position also involves maintaining HR databases, generating reports, and facilitating knowledge sharing and training sessions for staff, thereby contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the HR function within the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The HR Associate will be responsible for administering and implementing HR strategies and policies in compliance with UN Women rules and regulations. Key duties include providing standard information on HR strategies, identifying administrative needs, preparing written responses to HR-related queries, and ensuring compliance with HR policies. The HR Associate will also provide administrative and logistical services, including processing correspondence, maintaining records, managing leave and payment processes, and facilitating staff separations. Additionally, the HR Associate will coordinate recruitment processes, draft job descriptions, screen candidates, and prepare recruitment recommendations. The role involves monitoring compliance with performance appraisals, maintaining HR data, and organizing training and workshops for staff. The HR Associate will also be responsible for liaising with HR headquarters and disseminating information on HR matters, ensuring that the office operates efficiently and effectively.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a strong knowledge of HR administration, processes, and policies. They should have the ability to execute administrative processes and handle confidential information. The HR Associate should also be capable of providing inputs for business process re-engineering and implementing new systems. Good quantitative skills and strong IT proficiency are essential for producing reports and managing HR databases. Educational Background: Completion of secondary education is required for this position. A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Public Administration is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's qualifications for the role.
