Job Overview:
The Brand Strategy Consultant will work closely with the high value marketing team to facilitate a brand strategy process and assist the Chief of Section in developing the team strategy. This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive experience in global brand strategy, particularly in adapting commercial brand strategies to a non-profit context. The consultant will need to manage significant stakeholder engagement due to UNICEF's decentralized structure and deliver expertise in a manner that is comprehensible to colleagues with varying levels of experience in brand strategy. The consultant will also help the team navigate a reset period following significant changes post-COVID, exploring the marketing function's requirements within the organization and the relationship between the marketing team and market teams. The consultant will be responsible for defining a process for developing a brand strategy for partnerships, project managing the process, and ensuring effective stakeholder engagement throughout.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties will include working with the Chief of Section to define a brand strategy process for partnerships, managing the project to ensure stakeholder engagement, and providing insights on different approaches to brand strategy. The consultant will help define key outputs for alignment and flexibility in brand usage by partnership and fundraising teams, develop implementation plans that integrate brand building into fundraising efforts, and collaborate with Audience and Market Insights to create guidance on brand investment. Additionally, the consultant will work on options for a central marketing team strategy, leveraging technological advancements to enhance team effectiveness, and develop an implementation plan that includes necessary market-facing infrastructure.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in business studies, marketing, communications, consumer research, statistics, or related fields. They should have a minimum of ten years of extensive professional experience in brand management, ideally with a mix of commercial and non-profit organizations. Proven experience in delivering brand strategy and managing complex stakeholder environments is essential. Experience in partnerships, fundraising, and sponsorship is considered an asset, as is experience working in an international environment.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s degree or higher) in relevant fields such as business studies, marketing, communications, consumer research, statistics, or other related areas. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of brand strategy and stakeholder engagement in a non-profit context.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of ten years of extensive professional work experience in brand management, with a strong emphasis on delivering brand strategy. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing complex stakeholder environments and experience in partnerships, fundraising, and sponsorship, which are valuable assets for this role. Experience in an international setting is also beneficial, as it aligns with UNICEF's global operations.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile for this consultancy role.

The consultant will work remotely and may need to travel as required during the assignment, with travel costs covered separately by UNICEF. Payment will be made upon submission of an invoice and satisfactory completion of deliverables.
