Job Overview: The Communications Analyst position at UN Women is pivotal in assisting the planning and implementation of the office's communications and advocacy strategies. This role is designed to enhance the visibility and awareness of UN Women among partners, the media, and the public. The Communications Analyst will work closely with various teams within the Country Office, including Programme, Operations, and technical teams, as well as with personnel from other UN Agencies, government officials, media representatives, multilateral and bilateral donors, and civil society organizations. The position requires a proactive approach to developing and executing communication strategies that integrate gender perspectives and outreach initiatives. The Communications Analyst will also be responsible for monitoring and analyzing media coverage and providing insights to improve communication efforts. This role is essential for promoting UN Women’s initiatives and ensuring effective communication of its goals and achievements.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Communications Analyst will have a comprehensive set of duties and responsibilities, including:
Providing substantive support in the planning and design of external communication and outreach strategies.
Analyzing communication strategies to ensure they incorporate a gender perspective.
Integrating communication, advocacy, and outreach strategies into project proposals and initiatives.
Monitoring and analyzing print and social media, providing insights to the Regional Office and Headquarters.
Supporting the launch of UN Women campaigns and special events.
Coordinating the development and dissemination of advocacy materials, including drafting press releases and briefing materials.
Identifying and promoting storylines for publication and articles.
Maintaining relationships with media and organizing press events.
Building partnerships with donors and civil society organizations to enhance visibility. 1
Managing the Country Office's online presence, including website content and social media accounts. 1
Facilitating knowledge sharing and conducting training on communication and advocacy as needed. 1

Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in communications, public relations, journalism, or a relevant field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. The role requires a minimum of zero years of professional experience with a master’s degree or two years with a bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, or advocacy.
