Job Overview: The AgroForestry Officer position is crucial for the implementation of activities related to forestry and pasture management under the UNDP project aimed at increasing climate resilience and gender equality in rural Moldova. Duties and Responsibilities: The AgroForestry Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including:
Coordinating project planning and implementation, ensuring that work plans and budgets are prepared based on capacity assessments.
Managing day-to-day activities of the project portfolio, optimizing resource use to achieve project objectives.
Providing technical advice and support to ensure timely delivery of outputs.
Facilitating the establishment of inclusive platforms for project implementation and collaborating with other units to integrate critical development issues.
Ensuring compliance with UNDP policies and procedures, including procurement and financial management.
Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions related to agroforestry and sustainable practices.
Overseeing the establishment and operational planning of community-based forestry enterprises.
Developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and local communities. 1
Leading advocacy efforts for climate-smart agroforestry and women's leadership.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s Degree or equivalent) in Forestry, Agriculture, Environmental Management, or closely related fields. Alternatively, a first-level university degree (Bachelor’s Degree) combined with additional qualifying experience will be considered. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience with a Master’s degree or 4 years with a Bachelor’s degree in coordinating or implementing agriculture or forestry activities, sustainable land management, or ecosystem-related activities. Proficiency in using office software packages and web-based management systems is also required. Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills are essential for this role.
Educational Background: The educational background required for the AgroForestry Officer position includes an advanced university degree (Master’s Degree) in relevant fields such as Forestry, Agriculture, or Environmental Management. A first-level university degree (Bachelor’s Degree) in these areas, combined with additional qualifying experience, may also be accepted. Experience in project management, stakeholder engagement, and the use of office software packages is also necessary for this role.
Languages: Fluency in English, Romanian, and Russian is required for this position. Additionally, working knowledge of one or more additional languages relevant to Moldova, such as Bulgarian, Gagauzian, Romani, Ukrainian, or sign language, is considered an asset. Proficiency in multiple languages will enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and communities in the region.
