Job Overview:
The Warehouse Associate position at WFP is crucial for ensuring the efficient management of warehouse operations, which includes the receipt, dispatch, and verification of commodities. The role is designed to maximize the quality of warehouse operations while minimizing losses. The Warehouse Associate will work under the supervision of the Warehouse Management Assistant/Associate and will be responsible for maintaining high standards of storage management practices in compliance with WFP guidelines. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to quality control, as the Warehouse Associate will be involved in all phases of warehouse operations, including inventory management and reporting. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting WFP's mission to provide life-saving food assistance to vulnerable populations in Gaza and the West Bank, contributing to the organization's broader goals of resilience-building and food security.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Warehouse Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Effectively receiving and dispatching commodities, ensuring accuracy in physical counts and compliance with established quality standards.
  • Preparing, verifying, and signing off on warehouse and transport documents, maintaining accurate records of all warehouse transactions.
  • Conducting daily warehouse closing reconciliations and inventory checks to support internal control systems.
  • Performing daily inspections of commodities received and dispatched, preparing reports on quantity and quality, and investigating discrepancies or damages.
  • Implementing measures to safeguard food and non-food commodities, ensuring quality control in line with WFP procedures.
  • Monitoring warehouse conditions and taking appropriate actions to optimize space planning and organization of commodity storage.
  • Providing guidance and on-the-job training to other warehouse staff to enhance their skills and performance.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of four years of relevant experience in warehouse management, logistics, or a related field. Experience with logistics databases and inventory management is essential. Candidates should demonstrate proficiency in managing food and non-food items (NFIs) and processing invoices. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are critical for success in this role. Additionally, candidates should have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and possess strong problem-solving skills to address challenges that may arise in warehouse operations.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area, such as logistics or supply chain management, is desirable and will be considered an asset in the selection process.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least four years of experience in warehouse management or logistics. This experience should include managing inventories, processing invoices, and using logistics databases to generate reports. Familiarity with food and non-food items is crucial, as the role involves handling various commodities and ensuring compliance with WFP standards.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
