Job Overview: The Supply and Logistics Associate plays a crucial role in managing UNICEF's supply chains within the Gaza Field Office. This position involves handling complex cases and client requests, requiring the evaluation of challenging situations and the adaptation of procedures to resolve them. The role is characterized by a high degree of independence, allowing the Associate to lead and manage end-to-end supply chain processes. The incumbent will also provide input into the design and development of improved supply chain services and delivery mechanisms, potentially supervising lower-level staff. The Associate will engage in various activities, including planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of supply chain operations, ensuring that every child in the Gaza Strip and West Bank has access to necessary services and protection.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Supply and Logistics Associate include:
Providing input to Country Programme Action Planning and advising on supply requirements for operational plans.
Participating in forecasting, planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of supply chain operations.
Monitoring and analyzing supply dashboard reports to track performance indicators.
Coordinating with program sections and supply colleagues to ensure timely supply responses.
Advising on logistics input for supply plans, including infrastructure constraints and delivery mechanisms.
Liaising with supply colleagues for pipeline monitoring and logistics capacity establishment.
Managing documentation for logistics operations and resolving operational issues.
Supporting warehouse facilities and operations in line with UNICEF policies.
Maintaining warehousing and inventory management processes. 1
Preparing stock reports and monitoring inventory trends. 1
Participating in events to build partnerships with UN organizations. 1
Supporting capacity building of government counterparts and improving supply chain processes. 1
Supporting emergency preparedness and response activities. 1
Monitoring pre-positioned stock levels and delivery schedules. 1
Facilitating training for newcomers and establishing effective workflows.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Supply and Logistics Associate position include:
Completion of secondary education, preferably supplemented by technical or university courses related to supply chain, business administration, or contract/commercial law.
A minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or a commercial context.
Understanding of development and humanitarian work is an advantage.
A bachelor’s degree may replace three years of related work experience, while a master’s degree may replace an additional two years of experience.
Fluency in English and Arabic is required, with knowledge of another official UN language being an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes completion of secondary education, ideally supplemented by technical or university courses in relevant fields such as supply chain management, business administration, or contract/commercial law. A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field can substitute for three years of work experience, while a master’s degree can replace an additional two years of experience.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant administrative experience in supply chain management or in a commercial context. Candidates with a background in development and humanitarian work will have an advantage. The flexibility clause allows for a bachelor’s degree to replace three years of related work experience, and a master’s degree may replace an additional two years.
Languages: Fluency in English and Arabic is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's profile.
