Job Overview:
The position of Adjoint/Adjointe aux programmes (SC-6) at WFP in Abidjan is crucial for supporting the resilience and food systems unit. The incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation of programs that effectively address food assistance needs. This role involves contributing to the strategic objectives of the WFP's Country Strategic Plan in Côte d'Ivoire, developing a wide range of projects and processes aligned with WFP policies, and providing project management support for specific programs. The position requires a proactive approach to data collection and monitoring, ensuring high-quality standards are met. The successful candidate will engage in policy analysis and contribute to timely reporting on program activities, facilitating informed decision-making and stakeholder engagement. This role is integral to enhancing the effectiveness of food assistance programs and building partnerships that improve food security outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Adjoint/Adjointe aux programmes (SC-6) include:
  • Contributing to the achievement of resilience-related results in the WFP Country Strategic Plan for Côte d'Ivoire.
  • Assisting in the development of various projects, plans, and processes, ensuring alignment with program policies and guidelines.
  • Providing project management support for specific programs and projects of considerable size and complexity, ensuring a coordinated approach with broader programs and compliance with WFP standards.
  • Developing and coordinating data collection and monitoring systems, ensuring rigorous quality standards are adhered to.
  • Conducting research and analysis on political and operational issues to inform policy and program development.
  • Preparing accurate and timely reports on the activities of the Resilience/Food Systems Unit to support informed decision-making.
  • Liaising with internal and external counterparts to ensure effective collaboration, monitor ongoing projects, and highlight risks to project delivery.
  • Supporting the identification, development, and management of potential partnerships to enhance food assistance programs.
  • Assisting in capacity building for WFP staff, partners, and national government to prepare for and respond to food assistance needs, including contributing to training material development. 1
  • Guiding and supervising less experienced staff, serving as a reference model, and assisting them in analysis and problem-solving. 1
  • Performing other duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Adjoint/Adjointe aux programmes (SC-6) position include:
  • Strong understanding of project management principles and practices, particularly in the context of food assistance and resilience programs.

A post-secondary diploma in a relevant field is also acceptable. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of the principles and practices related to food security and resilience programming.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least 6 years of proven professional experience in strategic positions related to program management, particularly in the context of humanitarian assistance or development work. Experience working with the United Nations system, especially with WFP, is considered an asset. The role requires a demonstrated ability to manage complex projects and engage with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary working language in Côte d'Ivoire. Proficiency in English is considered an asset, as it enhances communication with international partners and stakeholders.
