Job Overview: The Manager, Leadership and Staff Development position at the World Bank Group is a pivotal role within the Talent Management and Development Department, which is integral to the Human Resources sector. This role is designed to transform the learning and leadership development landscape within WBG. The successful candidate will be responsible for integrating advanced learning technologies and human-centered design into the development of programs that are not only engaging but also measurable and aligned with the organization's mission. The position requires a strategic leader with deep expertise in adult learning and leadership development, as well as hands-on experience in program design and facilitation. The Manager will work closely with senior leaders and learning providers to ensure that all development initiatives meet the evolving needs of the organization and its staff, thereby positioning learning as a key business enabler.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Manager, Leadership and Staff Development include:
Strategic Leadership & Vision: Define and implement a comprehensive staff learning and leadership development strategy that aligns with WBG's business transformation objectives. Monitor global trends and emerging technologies to anticipate future learning needs. Build networks with external partners to enhance WBG's learning capabilities.
Program Design & Innovation: Identify and manage external partners for co-creating leadership and staff development programs. Oversee mentoring and executive coaching initiatives, ensuring meaningful relationships and outcomes. Manage the business skills and communications learning offerings for a large participant base.
Leadership Development: Collaborate with HR and business leaders to identify leadership gaps and design targeted learning journeys. Develop and enhance the leadership learning curriculum and deliver impactful executive development programs.
Stakeholder Engagement & Collaboration: Act as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, ensuring alignment of learning solutions with organizational priorities. Foster collaboration across different functions to ensure seamless execution of learning initiatives.
People Management & Operational Governance: Lead and develop a high-performing team, shaping a culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Establish governance structures for effective decision-making and resource allocation. Champion the use of learning analytics to measure impact and drive improvements.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Master’s Degree and at least 12 years of progressive experience in Leadership Development, Organizational Development, or Talent Management, with a minimum of 5 years focused on executive-level development. Candidates must demonstrate a proven track record in designing and facilitating senior leadership development programs that yield measurable impact. Experience in managing large-scale transformation initiatives and aligning learning strategies with business objectives is essential. Strong program and project management capabilities are also required, along with expertise in adult learning theory and instructional design.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in a relevant field, such as Human Resources, Organizational Development, or a related discipline. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of leadership and staff development within a global context.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 12 years of relevant experience, with a significant portion dedicated to leadership development and talent management. This includes a minimum of 5 years focused specifically on executive-level development, showcasing the ability to design and implement impactful programs across diverse teams and stakeholder groups.
Languages: The mandatory language for this position is English. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication and collaboration within the diverse global environment of the World Bank Group.
