Job Overview:
The National UN Community Volunteer position is designed to support UN Women's initiatives in Nigeria, particularly during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence campaign. This annual international campaign runs from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day. The selected volunteer will play a crucial role in raising awareness about gender-based violence, targeting adolescents, young people, and community leaders. The volunteer will assist in organizing workshops and events aimed at educating participants on recognizing and preventing gender-based violence, empowering them to become agents of change within their communities. The role involves coordination between the Regional Hub and Country Offices, ensuring that the workshops are effectively planned and executed, and that community engagement is fostered to promote awareness of gender-based violence issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National UN Community Volunteer will have a variety of responsibilities, including: undergoing training on the processes and activities undertaken by UN Women related to the 16 Days of Activism against GBV campaign; assisting in the planning and organization of workshops targeting adolescents, young people, men and boys, and community leaders; delivering empowerment sessions that raise awareness about rights and available services; coordinating with trainers and facilitators to ensure smooth execution of workshops, including preparation of materials and logistical arrangements; identifying community leaders, youth groups, and local organizations to participate in GBV prevention workshops; engaging with and mobilizing young people and community members to promote awareness of gender-based violence issues; maintaining records of participants, attendance, and workshop materials; and performing any other related tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this volunteer position should possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, and demonstrate a commitment to gender equality and women's empowerment.
