Job Overview:
The GCF Readiness-IC-NDC Outreach Specialist position is designed to support the implementation of the Green Climate Fund (GCF) readiness program in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The specialist will be responsible for outreach activities related to Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. This role involves engaging with stakeholders, including government entities, civil society, and the private sector, to promote understanding and implementation of NDCs. The specialist will also be tasked with developing communication strategies, organizing workshops, and facilitating discussions to enhance stakeholder participation in climate action initiatives. The position requires a proactive approach to building partnerships and fostering collaboration among various sectors to ensure effective outreach and engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the GCF Readiness-IC-NDC Outreach Specialist include:
  • Developing and implementing outreach strategies to promote NDCs and GCF readiness activities.
  • Engaging with key stakeholders, including government agencies, NGOs, and the private sector, to foster collaboration and support for climate initiatives.
  • Organizing workshops, seminars, and meetings to facilitate discussions on NDC implementation and climate action.
  • Creating informative materials and resources to enhance understanding of NDCs among stakeholders.
  • Monitoring and evaluating outreach activities to assess their effectiveness and impact.
  • Providing technical assistance and guidance to stakeholders on NDC-related issues.
  • Collaborating with UNDP and other partners to align outreach efforts with broader climate change strategies.
  • Reporting on outreach activities and providing recommendations for improvement.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the GCF Readiness-IC-NDC Outreach Specialist position include:
  • Proven experience in climate change policy, environmental management, or related fields.
  • Strong understanding of the Paris Agreement and NDCs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience in organizing events and facilitating discussions.
  • Proficiency in project management and strategic planning.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
Candidates should possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in environmental science, climate change, public policy, or a related field. A master’s degree is preferred and may be considered an asset for this position. Relevant certifications in climate change or project management will also be advantageous.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant professional experience in climate change, environmental policy, or related areas. Experience working with international organizations, government agencies, or NGOs in the context of climate action and sustainable development is highly desirable. Familiarity with the GCF and its operational modalities will be considered a strong asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and spoken. Proficiency in the local language (Bosnian, Croatian, or Serbian) is highly desirable. Knowledge of additional languages relevant to the region may be considered an advantage.

Additional Notes:
This position is offered as an individual contractor role, with an assignment duration from December 2025 to June 2026, encompassing up to 65 working days. The contract is expected to be full-time, and candidates are encouraged to submit their proposals directly through the UNDP supplier portal.
