Job Overview: The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Field Security Officer (FSO) plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe and secure environment for CRS employees, visitors, and assets. The FSO is responsible for implementing and adhering to safety and security protocols, coordinating operational security issues, and sourcing relevant security information within CRS project areas, particularly in Sokoto State. This position requires regular communication with staff during field movements and supports the Technical Adviser in mainstreaming safety and security into all field operations. The FSO must provide high-quality information for decision-making and ensure that all safety and security measures are effectively communicated and enforced.
Duties and Responsibilities: The FSO's duties include familiarizing with CRS’s Safety and Security procedures, supporting the Head of Office in adherence to these protocols, and collaborating with the Technical Advisor to develop and implement security plans. The FSO will provide security briefings to staff and visitors, maintain communication equipment, monitor staff movements, and conduct field visits to assess compliance with safety procedures. Additionally, the FSO will collect and analyze information regarding the political and security landscape in Sokoto State, respond to incidents, conduct health and safety inspections, and ensure that all security measures are in place and functioning. The FSO will also coordinate with local communities and authorities to build acceptance for CRS programs and represent CRS at relevant meetings.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 3 years’ experience in community engagement, risk management, safety and security management, or a related field. Proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint is required, along with previous experience in security management with NGOs being an added advantage. Candidates should have completed formal security management training and demonstrate the ability to plan, organize work, and communicate effectively. A strong understanding of the geography and culture of Northeast Nigeria is essential, along with a stable, reliable character and a commitment to accountability practices.
Educational Background: While specific educational requirements are not detailed, candidates are expected to have relevant qualifications that align with the responsibilities of the position, particularly in fields related to security management or community engagement.
